Floyd County officials say that charges have been filed in connection with a fatal crash in January of this year in which a fifty-nine-year-old Rome woman lost her life. Twenty-one-year-old David Frier, Jr. of Centre, Alabama has been charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to obey traffic control devices. Frier was driving a Dodge Ram 5500 truck when he ran a red light on the Cedartown Highway at Walker Mountain Road. Frier struck a GMC Yukon that was being driven by thirty-seven-year-old George W. Fowler of Rome. Denise Howell was one of three passengers in the vehicle and lost her life as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Two other passengers were injured. Frier turned himself in at the Floyd County Jail on Monday of this week.
