A thirty-eight-year-old Stone Mountain, Georgia man was indicted by the Chattooga County Grand Jury after he failed to voluntarily turn himself in after an order by a Chattooga County Superior Court Judge.
Summerville Police Chief Harold Tucker has announced his plans to retire after thirty-six years of service to the city. Tucker says that he plans to spend time with family and his granddaughter and is leaving the door open for the possibility of some other career. Tucker has spent his adult life with the Summerville Police Department. He became a sergeant in June of 1990 and then was promoted to lieutenant later that same year. In 1998, he achieved the rank of captain and then became chief when former Police Chief Stan Moseley retired. Tucker says that June 28, 2024 will be his last day with the Summerville Police Department.

A thirty-five-year-old Chattooga County man is accused of burglarizing his own family member’s home and then shooting at the house with a gun he had stolen. According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened last week on March 27th. Family member’s called 911 to report that the suspect was shooting at them. When deputies arrived on the scene, a family member told them that the suspect was probably shooting with a gun that he had just stolen from the residence. Deputies used a PA system to call David Michael Eller out and then arrested him on charges of burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, terroristic threats and acts and theft by taking.
