Mrs. Bonnie Pearl Spear, age 83, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Spear was born January 13, 1935, in St. Clair, AL, daughter of the late Arthur Shamblin and Stella Agnes O’Donnell Tucker. She attended the Harrell Street Church of God and loved to garden and help teach Sunday School Class to the residents at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Mount Vernon Mills for 43 years where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert Oliver Spear; step-son, Robert Oliver Spear, Jr.; sisters, Ruth Pope and Betty Joyce Tucker; and a great-grandson, Isaac Hughes.
Mrs. Spear is survived by her son, Greg Spear; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Lydell Hughes; a brother, Donald Tucker; sisters, Dorothy Harrelson, Ann Young, and Peggy Daugherty; 3 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Spear will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Shores officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Nicholas Hughes, Bobby Spear, Larry Fair, Randy Harrelson, Ricky Harrelson, and Tim Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Marie Fair, Shirley Crain, the staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation, and the staff of Affinis Hospice.
Mrs. Spear will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday.
