Mrs. Ruby Earline Craig, Obit. (C)

Mrs. Ruby Earlene “Sis” Craig, age 73, of the Dickeyville Community, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Floyd Medical Center. 

Mrs. Craig was born in Trion, Georgia on September 1, 1940, daughter of the late John Earl Crider and Mary Frances Ruby Lee Croy Crider. She was employed with the Riegel/Mt. Vernon Mills, working as a battery hand and retired from WireTech, working as a splicer She was member and supporter of the Humane Society and was also a strong supporter of the United States Military and Veterans. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Craig was preceded in death by brothers, Leon Crider, and Kenneth Crider; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Terry. 

Mrs. Craig is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Don Arnett, Delores, John Terry and Becky Bandy and Jerry Gilreath; brothers, Lynn Crider and Johnny Crider; sisters, Charlene Giles; grandchildren, Jessica Yates and Rachael Tanner; great grandchildren, Dawson Hunter Duncan, Noah Lane Duncan, and Jozelyn Tanner; special friend, Marvin Angles and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Craig will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Joel A. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Jason Gilland, Jim Gilland, Rusty Maddux, J.J. Bowers, Jeremy Giles, Kevin Martin and Ray Laney.

Mrs. Craig will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mr. Kenneth David Rich Complete Obit (M)

Mr. Kenneth David (Davie) Rich, age 56, of Rising Fawn, GA, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at his residence.
 
Mr. Rich was born July 9, 1958, in Homerville, GA, son of David Rich and the late Geraldine Thornton Rich.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a dredge boat engineer with Merritt Dredging.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Ann Rich.
 
Mr. Rich is survived by his sons, Kenneth Eugene Sellers, Michael Lee Sellers, and Daniel David Rich; a daughter, Rachel Renee Rich; father and step-mother, David and Ann Rich; a brother, James Daniel Rich; a sister, Pamela Justice; and 12 grandchildren.
 
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Rich will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday July 29,  2014, from the Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Billy Wright and Rev. Tony Current officiating.

Mrs. Nancy Jean Stansell Lee, Obit. (M)

Mrs. Nancy Jean Stansell Lee, age 64, of the Teloga Community went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, GA.
 
Mrs. Lee was born January 1, 1950, to the late Homer and Dorothy Richmond Stansell.  She worked at Mount Vernon Mills for 35 years and was also a lifelong member of the Beersheba Presbyterian Church. 
 
Mrs. Lee is survived by her husband, Edward “Big E” Lee; a son, Allen Brown; step son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Katie Lee; grandchildren,  Nichole and Chang Stewart, Dakota Lee, Abigayle Lee, and Amelia Grace Lee; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Anisten Stewart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Lynn Melton, Kathy and Bud Ledford; and several nieces and nephews.
 
A celebration of life for Mrs. Lee will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 25, 2014, from the Beersheba Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jack Westlund officiating.

Mrs. Catherine VanPelt Obit (ER)

MRS. CATHERINE VANPELT, age 88, of Summervile, Georgia passed away Tuesday, Jalu 22, 2014, evening in the local nursing home. A Gordon County native, She was born on February 7, 1926 to the late Arch and Arrie Beck Reed. Mrs. Vanpelt was retired from the sewing department of Mars Glove, in LaFayette and was preceded in death by her husbands the late Ray Vanpelt and the late J.C. Miller; a Daughter; sisters, Sallie Reed, Annie Ruth Reed Waddell, and Jettie Benita Lankford, all died earlier.

Surviving are daughter, Tax Commissioner, Kathy Vanpelt Brown of Summerville;
grandson-Greg Brown of Ketchikan, Alaska; other Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25th, at 4 PM from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Chastain officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Mr. Billy Shane Clark, age 45, of Summerville, GA died Monday, July 21, 2014

at his home.

 

Mr. Clark was born January 22, 1969 in Cleveland, TN, the son of the late

William Eugene Clark and Brenda Joyce Maxwell Clark.  Mr. Clark was a painter.

 

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Clark; and sisters, Tina King and Terri Stewart.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Biggs, age 74, of Union Street in Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Biggs was born in Grayson, Georgia on June 24, 1940, daughter of the late James William Plunkett and Flora Bell Bedingfield Plunkett. She was of the Baptist Faith and prior to retirement was employed as a property manager.

Mrs. Biggs is survived by her sons and a daughter-in-law, Lloyd Wayne Cooper of Gainesville, GA and Charles Milton Biggs and his wife, Tina Biggs of Griffin, Georgia; brothers, James Allen Plunkett, and George William Plunkett of Henry County, Georgia; sisters, Bonnie Sue Woodfin of Summerville, GA, Margaret Dwayne DeAngelo and Deborah Gail Cater, both of Henry County, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The immediate family had a small gathering for the family Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Coffman Funeral Home. Following the gathering, Mrs. Biggs will be cremated according to her wishes, and the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

MR. JIMMY WILLIAMS – AGE 62, – Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 while he was working with his employer Railworks Track System in Gadsden, Alabama.  He graduated from Chattooga High School and he attended Auburn University.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Daisey Lee Kincade Williams, four brothers, and one sister.

Mr. Dave Milton Fowler, age 51, of Trion, GA, passed away Thursday July 17, 2014, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Fowler was born July 5, 1963, in Ft. Payne, AL, the son of Wayne and Cynitha Moore Fowler.  Mr. Fowler was a self-employed auto body repairman.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Sue Brown Fowler, children, Richard & Amber Ramirez, Chris & Magan Ramirez, Jon Ramirez, Caressa & Josh Bailey Ramirez, grandchildren, Lexie, Avaci, Rhiannon, Albany, Kaden, Grayson, Aurora, and Zofi, Sisters, Carla Fowler & B.J.
