Mr. Walter Deweese “W.D., Uncle Dub” Finley age 83 of 1956 Starling Mill Rd. Lylery, GA, passed away on Thursday June 6, 2013 at a local hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Finley was born in Chattooga County, Georgia, on August 26, 1929, son of the late Marcus Finley and the late Eliza Ann Perry Finley.
Survivors include his granddaughter, Alicia Young and grandson, Deweese Finley, Holland, GA; brother, Reuben C. (Jacqueline) Finley, Rome, GA; sister, Precious J. Muse, Summerville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Finley Chapel United Methodist Church, with Pastor Robert Barrett, officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the service time. Interment will follow in Finley Chapel Gardens, Holland, GA. Mrs. Daphne Williams Gresham, age 91, formerly of Moore Street, Trion, GA passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Majestic Manor in Rock Springs, GA. Mrs. Gresham was born July 30, 1921 in Chattooga County, GA. She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and was retired from the Packing Department of Riegel Textile Corporation where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Mrs. Gresham was preceded in death by first husband, Clifford Williams; second husband, Howard Gresham; father and mother, Henry and Eula Martin Hickman; and sisters, Frances Holt, Lester Grimes, and Shirley Nicholson.
Mrs. Gresham is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Duke and Pauline Williams of Trion, GA; nephew and niece, Bill and Pat Pierce of Rock Springs, GA and niece and nephew, Frank and Frances Pence of Trion, GA.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Ms. Kelly Danette Noles, age 42, of Trion, GA died Monday, June 10, 2013 at
Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Noles was born October 24, 1970 in Rome, GA. She was the daughter of
Benny Ray Morgan and the late Dorothy Nixon Morgan. Ms. Noles was a former
employee of Hayes Correctional Instution.
Survivors include a son, Jordan Butler; a daughter, Julion “Juli” Butler; father,
Benny Morgan and wife, Becki Morgan; brother, Chris Morgan; special friend,
Charles Butler.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, June12, 2013 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Cox officiating. Burial will follow at West
Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Spear, Dewayne Allmond, Frankie
Majors, Chris Morgan, Rodney Anglin, and Chris Nixon.

Mrs. Avanelle Harris Weaver, age 86 of Armuchee, GA passed
away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Weaver was born December 27, 1926 in Trion, GA. Mrs.
Weaver was retired from the Chattooga County Department of
Family and Childrens Services. She was a member of the New
Armuchee Baptist Church where she taught the Single Purpose
Sunday School Class and played piano for the Senior Adult Choir.
She was also a Volunteer at Redmond Regional Medical Center for
25+ years.
Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years,
George Weaver; and son, Randy Poole.
Mrs. Weaver is survived by son, Mike (Diane) Poole of Summerville,
GA; step-son, Kenneth (Brenda) Weaver of Douglasville, GA;
step-daughter, Marian ( Bill) Surles of Cumming, GA; and daughter-in-law,
Nancy Poole Thompson of Dayton, TN; grandchildren, Michael A. (Brandie)
Poole and Jordan Poole of Summerville, GA; Casey Poole of Dayton, TN;
Todd Aikman, Christie Surles (Jody) Mathews and David (Mindy) Surles,
Karen Weaver (Chuck) Bloodworth, and Keith (Clarice) Weaver; 14 great-
grandchildren.

Mrs. Jennine Dyer Smith, age 74 of Trion-Teloga Road, Summerville,
GA passed away June 2, 2013 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Smith was
born July 3, 1938 in Trion, GA. She was retired from Mount Vernon Mills
and attended the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center. Mrs. Smith
loved flowers, music, and traveling. She was active in the Cancer
Support Group.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Willis Smith
on December 30, 2012; father and mother, Louis Oscar and Addie Mae
Dyer; and a brother, Jerry Lemuel Dyer.
Mrs. Smith is survived by son, Rev. Randall L. (Cindy) Smith of Twin
City, GA; daughter, Kathy D. Smith of Summerville, GA; brother, Steve
Dyer of Summerville, GA; and sisters, Marveline Cook of Lyerly, GA and
Lisa Chandler of Trion, GA; 2 grandchildren, Jason Smith of Statesboro,

MRS. JEANETTE HAWKINS, age 90, of Summerville, Pennville Community, passed away Friday morning in a LaFayette health care facility. She was born on October 19, 1922, a daughter of the late Shirley and Willie Mae Marshall Jones. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Pennville Baptist Church and was a retired Lab Tech from Riegel Textile Corp. Beside parents, She was preceded in death by a grandson-the late Jody Maddux and brother-the late G.M. “Buck” Jones.
Surviving are husband-Joseph V. “Shorty” Hawkins; daughter-Pam Maddux of LaFayette; son-Curtis Hawkins of Summerville; sister-Virginia Hayes of Dawsonville; sister-in-law- Faye Jones of Pensacola, FL.; grandchildren-Tracy Maddux, Kari Maddux Brown (Rusty), Ian Hawkins, and Erin Thomas (Eric). great grandchildren- Rayven Lawrence, Ryleigh Lawrence, Ransley Lawrence, and Amelia Thomas. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Edna Jean Pursley, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Shepherd Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Pursley was born January 20, 1932 in Centre, AL, daughter of the late William McKinley and Ida Lee Wisner Gorham. She was a homemaker and a member of the Belmont Baptist Church. Mrs. Pursley was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Pursley.
Mrs. Pursley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Dennis Johnson; grandchildren, Matthew Johnson and Hannah Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Raine Harrison; a brother, Garvin Gorham; and sisters, Cathrine Hawkins, Estelle Johnson, and Linda Burkhalter.

MR. MIKE MITCHELL, age 72, of Center, Alabama, formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013. Born in Walker County, Georgia on October 1, 1940, Mr. Mitchell was a son of the late Walter Jennings and Lydia Sprayberry Mitchell. He was retired from the U.S. Postal service.
