Mrs. Kimberly “Gussy” Dawson Obit (EP)

Mrs. Kimberly “Gussy” Dawson, age 46 of Ramey Road, Trion, GA passed away Thursday, May 15, 2013 at Hutcheson Medical Center following a long illness.   She was born in LaFayette, GA on March 8, 1967.   Mrs. Dawson was a former paramedic with Chattooga County EMS.  She loved her job and won EMT of the year out of 16 counties.  She was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Louise Wingfield, Beatrice Lynn Brown, Bonnie Hartline Jones, and father, Hannis Kirby, Sr. Mrs. Dawson is survived by her husband, Michael Dawson; son, Justin White; daughter, Taylor Dawson Sprayberry; granddaughter, McKinnley Helton and grandson, Isaiah Sprayberry; mother, Arrie Mae Black; and brothers, Johnny Kirby and Hannis Kirby, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Waterville Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Barrett and Rev. Bill Abercrombie officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Visitation for Mrs. Kimberly “Gussy” Dawson will be Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Jamie Lynn DeLee Obit (M)

Mrs. Jamie Lynn DeLee, age 31, of Conyers, GA died May 14, 2013 at UAB in

Birmingham, AL.

 

Mrs. DeLee was born April 6, 1982 in Fort Sill, OK, the daughter of David Keen,

JR and Julie Hughes Keen.  She was a homemaker, wife, and mother.

 

Survivors include her husband, Lonnie DeLee; children, Coal Hennon, Bradley

DeLee, Brian DeLee, Brandon DeLee, Payton Hennon, Destiny Sholton, and

Deviny Sholton; parents, David Keen, JR and Julie Keen; brother, Drake Keen;

sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Jackie Burrage; grandparents, Larry

and Judy Allmon; great grandmother, Harriet Carroll; aunt & uncle, Steve and

Becky Osby; several Cousins; nieces, Kayleigh and Cassie Burrage.

 

Graveside and interment services will be held at 4:30 p. m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Waydell Howell and Rev. Barry Brown officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Osby, Jackie Burrage, Joe Middleton, Brian DeLee, Bradley DeLee, and Charles Rectenwald.  Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Sholton, Dusty Hennon, and Trampus Kiser.

Mrs. Mary Ann Tudor, age 75, of Rome, GA (formerly of Summerville, GA) died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Tudor was born July 21, 1937 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Clarence Eugene Pierce and Robbie Mae Carney Pierce. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Tudor was a member of Fishers Chapel Methodist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband to whom she was married in 1960 until his death in 2007, George Ed Tudor; and a son, Michael Tudor.

Survivors include sons, Greg Andrews, and Roland “Lynn” Tudor; sister, Wylene Gillespie; brothers, Ernie and wife, Glenda Pierce, Harold and wife, Betty Pierce; grandchildern, Kim Holmes, and husband, Will Holmes,Edward Tudor: great grandchildren, Matthew Shephard, Allison Holmes, and Andrew Holmes.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Frank Bramlett and Rev. Ray Teems will officiate.

Mrs. Barbara Cox Obit (M)

Mrs. Barbara Ann Cox, age 68, of Summerville, GA died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cox was born January 31, 1945 in Manns Choice, PA, the daughter of the late James D. Weneck and Anna Lois Tidey Weneck. She was a member of Berryton Church of God. Mrs. Cox was former president of the Ladies Ministries of Harvest Church of God from 1999 until 2006. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Weneck.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. William Cox; daughter, Schaunelle D. Pagan and husband, Danie H. Pagan; brothers, James D. Weneck, JR and Dennis Weneck; grandchildren, Caleb Pagan and Madisyn Pagan.

Mrs. Sara Allene Cochran, age 79, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cochran was born October 24, 1933 in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of the late Monty James Millican and Mary Janet Hall Millican. She was retired from the Chattooga School System. Mrs. Cochran was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. She also attended the Senior Citizen Center. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Emory Cochran; and a sister, Bonnie Hall.

Mrs. Cochran is survived by her husband, Grady Cochran, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Taft and Carrie Cochran, Clarksville, and Abby & Randy Parker, LaFayette, GA; and 2 Great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Palmer and Rev. Joel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Edgar Clinton Belcher Obit (M)

Mr. Edgar Clinton Belcher, age 71, of LaFayette, GA died Friday, May 10, 2013 in Chattanooga, TN.

Mr. Belcher was born August 11, 1941 in Chattanooga, TN, son of the late Zelma and Clinton Belcher. He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, was retired as a supervisor with Georigia Correctional Industry, and was also a veteran of the National Guard.

Mr. Belcher is survived by his wife, Sara Belcher; a son, Jamie (Tamula) Colbert of LaFayette, GA; daughters, Lisa (Andy) Johnson of Tunnel Hill, GA, Sonya Mann of LaFayette, GA; a brother, Walter Belcher of Loganville, GA; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Belcher will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Avans and his son, Rev. Jamie Colbert officiating. Mrs. Doris Espy, age 90, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at

her home.

 

Mrs. Espy was born April 23, 1923 in Trion, GA the daughter of the late Wheeler

Loggins and Addie Williams Loggins.  She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills.

Mrs. Espy was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church. Other than her

parents,  she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Maxwell; second

husband, Thomas Judson Espy, JR; and a brother, Leonard Loggins.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Maxwell King and husband, Jeff King and

Terri Maxwell Eleam and husband, Butch Eleam; brother, Joseph E. Loggins;

grandchildren, Libby Worthington and husband, Mikey Worthington, Christopher King

and wife,  K. C. King, Joseph Eleam, Katie Eleam, Daniel Eleam, and Connor Eleam;

and one great grandchild, Will Worthington.

Mr. Calvin McArthur Obit., (ER)

Mr. Calvin McArthur, age 77, of Reed Street, Trion, Georgia passed away

Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his residence. Mr. McArthur was born in 

Berryton, Georgia on September 23, 1935, a son of the late John Henry 

and Margaret McArthur Rackley. He was retired from the maintenance 

department of Chattooga Hospital and Oak View Nursing & Rehab. Center,

had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a 

member of American Legion Post #129 and V.F.W. Post #6688. Mr. McArthur

was preceded in death by his wife, the late Helen Wynell Nix McArhur and

brothers J.L. Rackley and Kenneth Rackley.

Surviving are daughters, Melanie (Gary) Woods and Darlene (Bryan) Hunter,

all of Trion; grandchildren, Jason (Stacie) McArthur, Bryan (Kaytia) McWhorter,

Derek (Catherine) Hunter, Haley Woods and Jimbo Woods; great grandchildren,

Mrs. Carrie Williams Obit (M)

Mrs. Carrie Williams was born October 22, 1919 in Menlo, GA to Logan and Dixie Williams.  On Wednesday, May 2013, Carrie peacefully departed this life. Carrie attended Menlo Public Schools, Menlo, GA.  Carrie moved to Washington, DC in 1954 where she worked at the Pentagon for the General Service Administration as a federal employee for 38 years until she retired in 1986. 

Preceding her in death are her parents; siblings; two daughters, May Ethel Mosteller and Lou Jean Perry; and two grandchildren, William Walker (Grant) and Georgia Addison (Michelle). Memories of Carrie will be cherished by four grandchildren, Jerome Thompson and wife, Sheila, Steven Thompson, Julia Cherie Perry, and Carol Perry; 13 Great Grandchildren; numerous Great Great Granchildren; and a host ofother relatives and friends.
