Mr. Charles Crawford Obit (EP)

Mr. Charles Crawford, age 81 of Mahan Raod, Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Rome, GA.  Mr. Crawford was born June 21, 1930 in Chattooga County, GA.  Mr. Crawford was retired from the Catlett Water Company and was a member of the New Antioch Baptist Church.

   Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his father and mother, Cecil and Leddie McCrickard Crawford; son, Ricky Crawford; and daughter, Kathy West.

   Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife, Emma Arnold Crawford of Summerville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Debbie McCrickard of Summerville, GA; granddaughters and husband, Kari Crawford of Chickamauga, GA and Brittney and Miles Bagley; grandsons and wife, Chad Crawford of Chickamauga, GA, Alan and Leann McCrickard of Trion, GA, Pete Parks of Los Angeles California; great-grandchildren, Kim Renfroe and Lisa Parks; and brother, Dean Crawford of South Carolina

   Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Helton officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

   Mr. Crawford will lie-in-state Friday, April 20, 2012 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

   Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will the Men of the New Antioch Baptist Church.  They are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Mrs. Odell Smith Obit (M)

Mrs. Odell Smith, age 98 of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at a Gordon County Hospital.

Mrs. Smith was born in Ft. Payne, Alabama on December 13, 1913, daughter of the late John Marion Frazier and Liza Stephenson Frazier.  She was a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies SS Class and the WMU.  Prior to retirement, Mrs. Smith was employed with Bigelow-Sanford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Lavoid Smith.

 Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jimmy Colbert; brother, Rassie Frazier; sisters, Jeanette Hammonds and Marie Cofield; grandchildren, Derek and Jennifer Colbert; 4 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin J. Norton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

 Pallbearers will be deacons and the men of Mt. View Baptist Church.

 Mrs. Smith will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Betty Wilson Brown Obit (ER)_

MRS. BETTY WILSON BROWN, age 71, of Rocky Hollow Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday evening, April 15, 2012, in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Clyde and Gussie Woody Hollingsworth on July 8, 1940. Mrs. Brown was retired from the spinning department of Carron Mills in LaFayette, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jeff R. Brown. Surviving are children-Judy Pruitt of Dalton, Terry Wilson of Lyerly, Wayne Wilson of Trion, Cathy McCary of Summerville, and Larry Wilson of Menlo; sisters-Virginia Ragland of LaFayette, Ann Hampton of Cloudland, and Syble Ward of LaFayette; brother-G. W. Hollingsworth of LaFayette and Bill Hollingsworth of Dalton; eleven Grandchildren, eleven Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18th, at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating, interment in Green Hills Memory Garden. Mr. Clyde “Huff” Langford, age 84, of Summerville, GA, passed away Tuesday April 10, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Langford was born September 3, 1927, in Lawley, AL, the son of the late James Monroe and Emma Delphia Barnette Langford. He was retired from the U. S. Army, After 20 years, he served in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972. Mr. Langford was preced in death by brothers, Clarence, Arvill, Clieland, Clell and Carson Langford, sisters, Wenona Bebo, Louvella Minor. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Langford, children, Ronald Dean Langford, Rodney Clyde Langford, Jr., Debra Langford Love, Kimberly & Charles Westmoreland, sister, Ima Fae Hick, grandchildren, Lakeisha & Joshua Swinford, Kristie, Kassie & Kallie Love, Kara & Erin Howard, Joshua & Suzy Westmoreland, Jennifer Westmoreland, great-grandchildren, Brandon & Catilyn Swinfford, Brooklyn Williams, Ansley & Joshua Kyle Westmoreland, sisters-in-law, Becky Langford, and Eskridge Langford. Mrs. Daisy Lee Adams Jackson Obit (F.K.Jones)

Mrs. Daisy Lee Adams Jackson passed on Friday, April 6, 2012 at a local hospital.  Mrs. Jackson was born in the Holland Community of Chattooga County, Ga., the daughter of the late Elizabeth Moore Clay.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Adams and Brazell Jackson.  In addition, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Chambers and three children, Arthur Adams, Martha Booket, and Edna Freshley; three grandchildren, Richard Adams, Marvin Adams, and Kevin Freshley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Mary (Larmar) Hammond, Josephine King, both of Rome, Ga.; two sons, Daniel (Loretta) Adams of Douglasville, Ga., Rober (Aline) Adams, of Rome, Ga..  A number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will recieve friends on Wednesday, April, 11, 2012 at F.K. Mr. James Herbert "Herb" Cole III , 58 of Summerville Passed away on Sunday…He was preceded in death by his father, James Herbert Cole, Jr. He is survived by his wife , Elaine Eddy Cole of Summerville, Mother, Jean Cole of LaFayette, Son James Cole IV and Wife Maria of Summerville, Daughter, Jennifer Cole Shattuck and Husband Jason of Ringgold, and Jessica Leigh Cole of LaFayette, sister Debbie Wells and husband Thomas, of Washington, grandchildren Cohen Shattuck, Annsleigh Cole , Lucas Cole, Andersen Fowler, Anna Phillips, and Leah Phillips, several nieces and nephews also survive….Herb was a man of great faith  and an active member of the First Baptist Church of LaFayette, he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed riding his Harley, most of his career was in real estate….

Mrs. Lura Bell Precise obit (EP)

Mrs. Lura Bell (Lou) Precise, age 77 of Summerville, GA died April 7, 2012 after a long battle with emphysema and other health issues.  She was born May 5, 1934 in Hamilton, AL  She was the daughter of the late James (Jim) and Nicie Howell and her Poppa and Momma, Ira and Minnie Nelson.  Mrs. Precise was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Marion Precise, Jr.; son, Michael Ray Precise; daughter, Deborah Lynn Precise; sister, Ethel (Paulie) Brown; and brothers, Wilburn (Catherine) Howell, Cleveland Howell, and Dennis Ray Howell.
   Prior to her illness she was employed by Shaw Industries, Ringgold, GA.
   Lura Bell was a member of Trion Heights Baptist Church.
   She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Coffey; "second son" and daughter-in-law, Gary and Doris Precise; grandson, Brian Evans Precise; step-grandson, Clark (Holly) Coffey, Jr.; step-granddaughter, Rebecca (Chris) Shoemake; sisters, Stella (Lamar) Beaird, Verlene (Fred) Pope, Jessie (the late Orville) Bethune, Dorothy (Bobby) Byrd, Doris (Joel) Nixon, Dean Page, and Kathy Cosgrove; brothers, Wallace (Ressie) Howell, Max (Pat) Howell; sister-in-law, Hazel Howell; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Albert Junior Parton,age 81, of Trion,GA died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Parton was born December 13, 1930 in Lyerly, GA, the son of the late James Albert and Etta Ellenburg Parton. He was self empolyed logger. Mr. Parton attened Ridgedale Unity Church of God. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alton Parton and Herman Parton.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Lee Barnett Parton; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Joyce Parton; grandfchildren, Amy Smith, Amber Ables, and April Kelly; great- grandchildren, Caleb,Nathan,Anna, and Cohen;brother,Bill Parton; sisters, Edna McKenzie and Pat Stoker.

Funeral services willl be held at 2:00 p.m. Staurday, April 7,2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.Junior Evans officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbears will be Nephews.
