Mr. Clarence Luzon Lewis, Jr, age 67, of Trion, GA died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lewis was born September 8, 1942 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Milton Clarence and Velma Louise Rutledge Lewis. He was retired from Mohawk Industries. Mr. Lewis was a member of the Trion Church Of God. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, and carpentry. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Tipton Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Lewis; daughter, Pam Bynum, Trion, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Troy & Phyllis Lewis, Gaylesville, AL, Stanley Lewis and Mark Lewis, both of Trion, GA, and Sammy & Kimberly Lewis, Calhoun, GA; brother, Talmadge Huvon Lewis, Berryton, GA; grandchildren, Matt Lewis, Dana Brown, Anthony Lewis, Bryan Lewis, Cassidy Bynum, Lee Lewis, Justin Lewis, and Nathan Lewis; and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial services for Mr. Lewis will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Chastain officiating.

The family will receive friends at Mason Funeral Home from 1:00 p. m. until the service hour on Saturday.

Mr. Larry Kenneth Durham, age 64 of Hwy 100 Summerville passed away on Monday at Redmond Reginal Medical Center.  He was born on July 9th, 1945 in Trion to the late John  Mark and Edith Louise Madden Durham…He was retired and had been Minister of Music for Sherwood Forrest Baptist Church for 22 years, and was a member and Minister of Music for the Enon Baptist Church in Shannon, GA.   he had served as Chattooga County Tax Commissioner and had been a member of the Chattooga County School Board…Mr. Durham is survived by his wife, Martha Lynn Floyd Durham of Summerville, son and daughter in law, David Todd and Teresa Durham of Lyerly, daughter and son in law,  Trina and Chad Hunt of Crawford, Ga. and son Kenneth Dewayne Durham of Iraq, grandchildren, jonathan and Samantha Durham, Courtney McCullough, and Elliot Hunt, sister and brother in law, Linda and Ben Johnson of Summerville.  Funeral service will be Thursday at 11AM from the chapel of Erwin -Petitt Funeral Home with Dr. Talmadge Barnes and Dr. Bill Dempsey officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.. Ms. Ethel Mae Brown age 89 of Summerville Passed awy on Tuesday, she was born on May 15th, 1920 in Bear Creek , AL..she was the daughter of the late James and Nicie Howell and was preceded in death by husband Paulie Brown, a son Jimmy Brown, brothers Wilburn adn Dennis Howell and was a member of Trion Heights Baptist Church and was a homemaker ,her hobbies was crocheting and gardening…surviving are one son and daughter in law, Dwight and Charlotte Brown, grandsons and wife Sammy and Barbara Brown, James Brown and Jason Brown..granddaughter  and husband Christine and Tracy Shaw…Sisters and husbands stella and Lamar Beaird, Verlene and Fred Pope, Jessie Bethune, Lura Precise, Dorothy and Bobby Byrd, Doris and Joel Nixon, Dean page, Kathy Cosgrove, Brothers and wives, Cleveland and Hazel Howell, Wallace and Ressie Howell, max and Pat Howell, special friend Phyllis Blackstock…extended grandaughters, great grandchildren , great great grandchildren and several neices and nephews also survive…Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2PM at theTrion Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Mr. James Porter "J P" Morrow, age 89, of Mentone, AL died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Morrow was born September 11, 1921 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of the late Ollie Berry and Janie Deering Morrow. He was a selp employed heavy equipment operator. Mr. Morrow was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Morrow was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Stephens Morrow.

Mr. Morrow is survived by a sister, Hildred Owen of Woodberry, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Green and Rev. Forrest Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Oliver Owens, Gary Owens, Carl Griffith, Doyle Bethune, Tad Allen, and Kent Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be all Members of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Jim Crowe, Bud Evans, Homer Weaver, James Carter, Jerry Gallaway, and James Bennett.

Mr. Morrow will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. He will lie in state at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church from 1:00 p. m. until the service hour on Thursday.

MR. CHARLES WILLIAM MITCHELL, age 78, of #56 Mitchell Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday (April 25, 2010) in a LaFayette nursing home. A native Chattoogaian He was born to the late William Jessie and Mabel Rebecca Norman Mitchell on January 31, 1932. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Tabernacle, retired from the Lab of Inland Container, a U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea, and a member of Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Maudie Lee Mitchell.

Surviving are daughter-Debbie K. Mitchell Whaley of Summerville; grandson-Donavon Whaley of Summerville; step children-Kenneth C. & Renita Tucker of Summerville and Shirley Ann Waters of Rome; step grandchildren-Kenneth Tucker, Adam Waters, Michelle Waters-Baty; great granddaughter-Kaitlyn Baty.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Walston officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Tucker, Donald Whatley, and Aaron Waters; Honorary Pallbearers Joe Cox, Sewell Cash, and the Staff of Shepherd-Hill Nursing Home. Visitation is Tuesday from 12 noon until the funeral hour. MRS. CHRISTINE HAWKINS FOX, age 62, of Hwy. #114-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday afternoon at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Fox was born to the late Howard and Mae Johnnie Umphurs Hawkins on July 16, 1947. She was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church and was retired from Oak View Nursing & Rehab. Center.

Surviving are daughter-& Son-in law Melissa and David Adams of Summerville; son-& daughter-in law  Todd and Kristy Fox of Cartersville, GA;  grandson- Justin and Casey Adams of Summerville, GA; granddaughters- Charleston and Annabeth Fox of Cartersville, GA; brother-Randy Hawkins of Summerville; Special care giver- Terry Lynn Ozment of Summerville, GA.

Funeral services wil be held Wednesday (April 29th) at 11:00 AM from the Dry Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Weaver and Pastor Terry Shores officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Active Pallbearers- Lamar Pettyjohn, Barry Woods, Hoyt Ballinger, Sammy Tapp, Mike Woods, Steve Morrrison; Honorary Pallbearers will be Soloman’s Porch Sunday School Class of Dry Valley Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home Tuesday from 6-8pm.  at other hours the Family will be at the residence of the daughter Melissa & David Adams #2340 Hwy #144 Summerville, GA.

MRS. KATHRYN G. COLLINS, age 77, of Henagar, Alabama formerly of Summerville, passed away Thursday (April 22, 2010) morning at her residence. Born in Trion, Georgia on January 15, 1933, She was a daughter of the late John and Myrtle Holloway Hunter. Mrs. Collins was Church of God by Faith and retired from the preparation department of Mt. Vernon Mills. She was preceded in death by husband the late Alton Collins, sisters-the late Totsi Hunter, Lola Hunter, Mattie Priest Ledford, and Mataline Edgeworth Ledford brothers-the late Clint Ledford, Hydress Ledford, and John Hunter.

Surviving are daughter-Liz Hawkins of Henagar, Al.; sons-Donald Collins, Ronald Collins, Jimmy Collins all of Summerville, and Steve Collins of Gaylesville, Al.; sister-Carolyn Brown Hunter of Ider, Al.; brother-Gordon Hunter of Broometown, Al.; 23 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (April 24) at 3:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be T. J. Hawkins, Jeremiah Hawkins, Joshua Collins, Andrew Collins, Mark Collins and Allen Collins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nephews and members of West Berryton Faith Temple. Mrs. Collins will be in state at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home Friday where the family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m.
