Miss Rebecca “Grace” Stephens, age 6 of Subligna passed away Sunday- August 5 at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, and will be announced by Mason Funeral Home.
Mr. Robert Louis Pettyjohn, age 67, of Trion, GA, died Monday, August 6, 2018, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. George William “Bill” Alexander, age 92, of Chattanooga, TN, formerly of Menlo, GA, died Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Hospice of Chattanooga.
Mrs. Irene McWhorter, age 83, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Dalton Place Assisted Living.
Mrs. McWhorter was born in Mesa, AZ, daughter of the late Ralph and Susie Granillo Carranza. She was a member of the New Covenant Tabernacle, and prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Ray McWhorter; sons, Frank Ray McWhorter, Hoyt Wayne McWhorter; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Bearden; brothers, Ernest Carranza, Emilio Carranza; sisters, Lillian Rangel, Sylvia Ortega; grandchildren, Marcy Ann Henderson, Clinton Lee Henderson, and Angela Michelle Painter.
Mrs. McWhorter is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda (Lee) Henderson, Cathy (Roger) Painter; son and daughter-in-law, Chris (Donna) McWhorter; brothers, Ralph Carranza, Albert Carranza, and Armando Granillo; sisters, Vickie Guzman and Betty Vasquez; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McWhorter will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Thursday, August 9, 2018, with the funeral service following at 6:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Dennison officiating. Private interment will be held in Old Trion Cemetery. There will be no graveside committal service. Pallbearers will be Jordan Sims, Lee McKeehan, Bryan McWhorter, Gary Davenport, Paul Bice, and Levi Bice.
