Mr. Timothy Wayne “Tim” Dover Obit (C)

Mr. Timothy Wayne “Tim” Dover, age 53 of Trion, GA passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at his residence. Tim was born January 17, 1961 in LaFayette, GA. He was Baptist by faith and was retired as a Supervisor in the Weave Room of Mount Vernon Mills.

Tim was an avid sportsman, He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, and golf. 

Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tiny Glen and Georgia Dover and Marvin and Pauline Ramey. 

Tim is survived by his wife, April Faye “Sassy” Dover; sons, Joshua Wayne (Brandi Rae) Dover, Nathan Housch, Jeremy Hill; step-son, Zack Hughes; mother, Joanne Ramey Dover; father and step-mother, Marion and Hazel Dover; sisters, Lynn Dover (Sean) Ledbetter and Mandie Dover (Robert)Vanco; grandchildren, Jessica Dover, Brandon Dover, Mason and Chandler Hill; special friend, Lynn Blanchard; nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Collins and Rev. Waydell Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Howell Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Timothy Wayne “Tim” Dover will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. 

Nathan Housch, Robert Vanco, Wayne Wilson, Philliup Housch, Billy White, Tommy “Sneaky-Snake” Odum, Terry Pope, and Dylan Akins have been asked to serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Ronald Louis Ritz Complete Obit (M)

Mr. Ronald Louis Ritz, age 70, of Summerville, GA, died Friday March 21, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Ritz was born April 24, 1943, in Ashland, OH, son of the late Eldred and Elizabeth Wright Ritz.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from the Walker County Road Department.  He was also a horse trainer and musician.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Bateman.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Christopher Baggett; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Richard Irby; grandchildren, Justin Greene, Hanna Greene, Jackson Baggett, Bentley Baggett, and Alexa Dennis.

Funeral services for Mr. Ritz will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sanford Deberry, Rev. Stanley Koonce, and Bro. Joe Owens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Christopher Baggett, Jackie Baggett, Terry Reed, Jeremy Evans, Casey Wimpy, Justin Owens, and Joe Owens.

Mr. Ritz will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Lauretta Jeanne Sparks Obit (M)

Mrs. Lauretta Jeanne Sparks, age 81, of Mentone, AL, died Monday, March 24, 2014

at her home.

 

Mrs. Sparks was born February 13, 1933 in Mauston, WI, the daughter of the late

Lloyd Maytum and Helen Fosbinder Maytum.  She moved to Batavia, IL where she

attended Madonna Catholic High School.  After graduating, she married Allen

DeWain Sparks and spent most of her years in Batavia as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

 

Survivors include her husband, Allen DeWain Sparks; children, Lane Sparks, Garran Sparks, Dale Sparks, Tracy Verachtert, Wade Sparks; brothers, Robert Maytum and

Richard Maytum; 14 Grandchildren; and 5 Great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Mason Funeral

Home Chapel, with Rev. John Leatherwood and Rev. Brandon Bishop officiating.

Pallbearers will be Lane Sparks, Garran Sparks, Dale Sparks, Wade Sparks, Dewain Meszaros and Brian Sparks.  Burial will follow in Dixon Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Linda Gail Franklin Bice Incomplete Obit (C)

Mrs. Linda Gail Franklin Bice, age 56, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Bice was born in Florida on August 5, 1957, daughter of the late Howard Franklin and Dorothy Lovain Franklin. She was a member of the Berryton Bible Mission, and prior to ill health was the co-owner of the Hair Depot. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bice was preceded in death by a sister, Sondra Palm.

Mrs. Bice is survived by her husband, Danny Ray Bice; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Leslie Bice, and Jason and Ann Bice; grandchildren, Evan Bice, Ann Bice, Riley Bice, Christine Bice, Ryan Bice and Jeannie Bice; great granddaughter, Ariel Faith Green; and a nephew Zachariah Andreoli .

MR. FARRELL PORTER BEENE, age 63, of Adams Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, evening at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born in Trion, Georgia on April 8, 1950 to the late Cecil Porter Beene and Dora Elizabeth Usry Beene who survives. Mr. Beene was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was retired automobile body repairman.

Surviving are wife-Christine Beene; mother-Dora Elizabeth Beene of Trion; daughters and sons-in-law-Lynn Pope and Brian Blackwell, Michelle and Michael Tapp all of Summerville, Heather Hastings and Ernest Spraggins of Lyerly, Roxanne and Dewayne Price of Trion; brothers and sister-in-law-Leroy and Loretta Beene of Tennessee, LeBron Beene of Summerville, and Ronnie Beene of Trion; grandchildren-Chelsea Jennings, Brandon Hastings, Zack Pope, Austin Tapp, Khristen Hastings, Thristen Price, and Callie Price; several Nieces and Nephews.

MS. ROBIN YVONNE WARE, age 50, of 6th Avenue, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Ware was born in Summerville, Georgia on July 31, 1963, a daughter of the late Robert Ware and Charlotte Maxine Perry Montgomery, who survives. She was a member of the New Spirit and Truth Church and before retirement, due to ill health, was employed at Jim’s Family Restaurant for twenty plus years. 

Robin’s surviving, Loving Family are mother-Maxine Montgomery of Summerville; sons & daughter-in-law-Seneca Sanchez & Allison Ware of Ft. Payne, AL. and Fabian Suttle of Summerville; sisters & brother-in-law-Berlin Ware, Teicher Montgomery, & Perrie Montgomery all of Summerville and Shasta & Dennis Hall, Jr. of Snellville, GA.; granddaughter-Taegan Dollar; special cousins-Gail Smith & Diane Ford; special friend-Cassandra Sims. Mrs. Sara Jane Barnett Henderson Obit (C)

Mrs. Sara Jane Barnett Henderson, age 80, of the Pennville Community, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Henderson was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on June 17, 1933, daughter of the late Clifford Barnett and Maggie Sue Seymore Barnett. She was a member of the Pennville Missionary Alliance Church, the Best Silver Club, and prior to retirement was employed in the Sewing Plant at Best Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Henderson, a son, Donnie Henderson, an infant son, and a great granddaughter, Shawna McNeese.

Mrs. Henderson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Rita Henderson of Summerville; daughters and son-in-law, Marilyn and Mickey Silvers and Lori Westbrooks all of Summerville; brother, Charles Barnett of Griffin, GA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and an number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Henderson will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ken Anderson, Will McNeese, Bobby Spear, Terry Cook, Kyle Spear, and Greg Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mickey Silvers, Rickey Silvers and the Retirees from Best Manufacturing Sewing Plant.

Mrs. Shirley Dean McGuire Obit (ER)

MRS. SHIRLEY DEAN McGUIRE, age 76, of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in a LaFayette Nursing Home. A native Chattooga countian, she was born on July 24, 1937 to the late Jessie Roy, Sr. and Annie Mae Dean McGraw. She attended Living Waters Ministries, was retired from Mount Vernon Mills after 34 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was preceded in death by sons- Marty McGuire, Melvin McGuire and Johnny McGuire; sisters- Gail Sispy, Aline Cordle and Martha Johnson; brothers- Archie McGraw, Buddy McGraw and Jessie Roy McGraw, Jr.

Surviving are daughters-Dale McGraw and Vickie Holbrook of Trion; sons- Darty McGuire and Darrell McGuire of Trion; step-son- Larry McGuire of Summerville; a Sister Mary Keller of Inman, S.C.; 12 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS. LYNN VANPELT HAWKINS, age 61, of Rossville Blvd.-Trion, Georgia passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, in a Chattanooga Hospital. A native Chattooga countian, She was born on April 15, 1952 to the late Marcus Ray Vanpelt and Catherine Reed Vanpelt, who survives. She attended the Dry Valley Baptist Church, was a CNA in health care, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Daniel (Jim) Hawkins, Jr. and a son, the late Christopher Brian “Chris” Hawkins. Surviving are daughter-Terri Marlow of Trion; mother-Catherine Reed Vanpelt of Summerville; granddaughters-Emily Katlin Marlow, Leigh Anna Marlow, and Maggie Marlow; a Sister and Nephew also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20th, at 1:00 P.M. from the Dry Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.
