Mrs. Barbara Campbell Bates

MRS. BARBARA CAMPBELL BATES, age 57, of Hunter Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Trion, Georgia,  she was born to the late Paul M. and Bertha Parker Campbell on October 10, 1952. Mrs. Bates was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, secretary for Black & Meek Milling Company, and was preceded in death by Her husband the late Ed Bates.

Surviving are daughter, Alecia Bates; son, Chance Bates both of Summerville; step children, Randy Bates of Beaver Falls, PA., Debbie Terry of Chatsworth, Kenneth Bates, Jr. of Summerville, Lisa Knoles of Summerville, Marie Jackson of Trion, Becky Brown of Trion, Kay Bates of Trion, Joan Hathcock of Summerville and Mary Kirby of Summerville; sister, Nancy Lang of LaFayette; brothers, William Campbell of Chickamauga, Glenn Campbell of Trion and Harlan Campbell of San Diego, CA.; four very special nieces and a host of special relatives.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 11, at 11am from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Patterson officiating.  Interment in Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Black, Randle Selman, Joe Reed, Kenneth Moore, Neal Black and B.J. Gamble.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 10, from 6 until 8pm at the funeral home.

MRS. THELMA MARGARET GUINN, age 88, of Burton Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Monday at Her residence. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born on June 23, 1921 to the late George Franklin and Lizzie Louella Skates Baggett. Mrs. Guinn was a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church, retired from the spinning room of Mt. Vernon Mills, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Rev. Archie Edward Guinn; sisters-Katie Baggett and Lemmus Dearing, and a brother-George Baggett.

Surviving are daughters-Bonnie Chandler, Lisa Stewart both of Trion, Sally Benton of Loganville, and Louise Osborne of Cave Spring; sister-Evelyn Lemming of Trion; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces , and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (December 9th) at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Patterson, Rev. Kevin Norton and Rev. Ricky Biddle officiating, interment in Trion Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Julian Coker, James Lemming, Jerry Dearing, Aston Chandler, Brian Chandler and Tim Benton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Guinn will lie in state at the Funeral Home Tuesday evening where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.

Betty Jean Mountain Obit

Mrs. Betty Jean Mountain, age 75, of Cloudland, GA died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at NHC of Fort Oglethorpe.

Mrs. Mountain was born October 10, 1934 in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of the late Charlie and Pearl Willingham Cavin. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Mountain was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Helen Cavin, Fay Langston, Ruby Deering, Minnie Cavin, and Dovie Boyd.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford, Mountain; step-children, Phillip David Mountain, Catherine Jeannie Wilson, and Glenna Ballanger; sister, Mary Francis Cavin; brother, Joe Cavin; 8 Step-grandchildren; 7 Step- Great Grandchildren; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Monday, December 7, 2009 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Patterson and Rev. Jack Green officiating. Burial will follow in Ami Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nephews and Dennis Hartline, Mike Moser, and Phil Mountain.

Mrs. Mountain will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will recieve friends from 9:00 a. m. until the service hour on Monday.

 

Mr. Olin Emory “Buddy” Ford Sr. Obituary

 Mr. Olin Emory “Buddy” Ford, Sr., age 74, of Trion, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Ford was born in Tifton, Georgia on February 11, 1935, son of the late John D. Ford and Sally Jane Cox Ford. He was of the Pentecostal Faith, and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Ford was preceded in death by a Grandson, Dartey Ford and a Great Grandchild, Kirsten Reynolds.

Mr. Ford is survived by his wife, Doris G. Ford; Sons, Olin Emory Ford, Jr., Daniel Andrew Ford and Jeffrey Lee Ford; Daughter, Amelia DeLaine Gregory; Brothers, Denny Rodger and Lenny Rodger; Sisters, Ruth Harrell and Evelina Carter; 17 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ford will be held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Ford and Rev. Gary Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Blackmon, Dylan Ford, Mark Ford, Michael McClellan, Dustin Starkey and Trey Cordell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leroy Brown, Edmond Brown, David Padgett, Lewis Brown, John Haag and Dennis Gregory.

Rhonda Sue Rogers Obit

Mrs. Rhonda Sue Rogers, age 45, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday December 3, 2009, at her residence. Mrs. Rogers was born July 3, 1964, in Hazel Park, Michigan, the daughter of the late Ralph Pierce, she was a homemaker and a member of the Freedom Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen Ray Rogers, sons, Jermey Rogers, Justin Rogers, Josh Rogers, Jason Rogers, mother, Sara Amos Pierce, brothers, Tommy Camp, Ricky Pierce, sisters, Belinda Smith, Tammie Blackmon, Dale Johnson, 6 grandchildren.

 Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday December 7, 2009, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Westmoreland, & Rev. Robert Patterson officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Cassius “Paco” Watkins

Mr. Cassius Marcellius "Paco" Watkins, age 45, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Hutcheson Medical Center.

 Mr. Watkins was born August 14, 1964 in Chattooga County, GA the son of Eugene Watkins, Jr. and the late Annie R. Powell. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Watkins had been employed at Mt. Vernon Mills.

 Survivors include his sons, Chase Darden and Dontea Smith; father, Gene Watkins, Jr., ;sister, Lula Whittenberry; brothers, Eddie Watkins, Shawn Watkins, Greg Ludy, Adreain Ludy, Anthony Anderson, and Omar Cashley.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Monday, December 7, 2009 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Ludy, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery.

Mrs. Linda Jeanette Wood

Mrs. Linda Jeanette Wood, age 68, of Trion, GA died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Wood was born December 4, 1940 in Marshall County, AL the daughter of the late James and Mary Lou Smith Dollar. Mrs. Wood had worked as a Medical Technician at the Chattooga Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Wood; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Vicki Wood, Roger and Kerry Wood; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl McGuire and Marty Green; brothers; Donald Dollar, Buren Dollar, Verbon Dollar and Buford Dollar; sister, Louise Palmour; 9 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren. Graveside and interment services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Tarry L.Dupree

Mr. Tarry L. Dupree, age 50, of Dupree Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Monday (November 30, 2009) in a Rome hospital. Born on March 13, 1959 he was a son of the late Edna Marie Dupree. Mr. Dupree was a former employee of the Sanitation Department of the Town of Trion.

Surviving are wife of 27 years,  Barbara Locklear Dupree; sons, Erik Dupree and Adam Dupree; brother, Steven Dupree all of Summerville; Uncles,  J. W. Dupree, Donnie Dupree, Delwyn Dupree all of Summerville; Aunt,  Anita Green of Cloudland. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Harris officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers will be Ricky Ramirez, Steve Bice, Cliff Cordle, Benji Stanfield, Jerry Wilson, Waymon Blansit and Richard Sumner. Jeanette White Obit

Mrs. J. B Jeanette White, age 82, of Summerville, GA died Monday, November 30, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. White was born February 2, 1927 in McCaysville, GA, the daughter of the late J. D. and Minnie Amanda White Pickelsimer. She was retired from Century Glove. Mrs. White was a member of the Lyerly United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and yard work and her great- granddaughter, Sarah, who was her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. B. White and a brother, Lewis Pickelsimer.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Motes; grandson and wife, Shawn and Alicia Bowden; great grandchildren, Sarah Bowden, Felecia Harrison and John Harrison; brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne Pickelsimer, J. D. Pickelsimer, and Tom & Inez Pickelsimer; sisters and brothers- in-law Tressie and Tommie Camp, Irene & Allen Larrea, Maxine & Bruce Woods, Opal Mitchell, and Lois & James Trowell; sisters-in-laws and husbands, Gwen White & H. C. Johnson, Kay Pickelsimer; and several Nieces & Nephews.

Ray Hall Obit

Mr. Ray Hall, 79 of Halls Valley Road, Trion. Passed away Sunday, at his residence.  Mr. Hall was born April 26th, 1930 in Chattooga County. He retired from the City of Summerville , a Veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the VFW , the American Legion, 40/8 and the sons of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hall, father and mother Joseph Mychardt and Foy Holland hall, brothers Glenn, Robert, J. M., and Roland Hall.  He is survived by his sons and daughters- in- law, Mike Hall, Randy and Debbie Hall, Greg and Sybil Hall  all of Trion, daughters and son -in- law, Jayne and Mike Short of Lyerly, and Lisa Hall of Trion.  Special Friend Shirley Willingham of Summerville, Brothers Ralph, Fred , Jimmy and Jack Hall all of Trion and Tommy Hall of Adairsville, 7 grand children, 9 great grand children several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 AM from the chapel of the Erwin Petitt Funeral Home with minister Hugh Glaze officiating. Interment will be in Howell Cemetary. Mr. Hall will lie in state Tuesday at the Erwin Petitt Funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM.
