Mary Nell Pinion Humphrey Obituary

Mrs. Mary Bell Pinion Humphrey, age 82 of Summerville, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at National Health Care in Rossville, GA. Mrs. Humphrey was born November 10, 1926 in Chattooga County, Georgia. She had been employed with Hurley’s Food Center and was a member of Bethel Methodist Church.

Mrs. Humphrey was preceeded indeath by her husband, Claude B. "Jack" Humphrey; father and mother, Amos Clifton Pinion and Mary belle Hawkins Pinion; brothers Joseph Clifton Pinion, Raymon Lee Pinion, Felton Pinion, J.W. Pinion and Sylvester Pinion.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Mae Humphrey of Summerville, GA; Sisters-in-law Resedale Pinion of Centre, AL and Ann Young of Summerville, GA; brother in-law and sister-in-law Henry and Claire Humphrey of Rossville, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17th, at 3:00pm from the chapel of the Erwin-Pettit Funeral Home with Rev. George Pinion and Rev. Roger Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetary.

Mrs. Humphrey wil lie-in-state Saturday, January 17th at the Erwin-Pettit Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00pm.

Pallbeareres will be Mike Humphrey, Chris Humphrey, Jimmy Pinion, Gerald Pinion, David Ward, and Jeff Ward. The family requests no food and in lieu of flowers that donations be made to your favorite charity.

 

Blackmon Obit

Mr. Chester Blackmon, age 71 of Rose Circle Trion passed away Wednesday  January 14th in a Rome Hospital.  He was born in Paulding County, Ga.l on June 28th, 1937 to the late Rufus harrison Blackmon and Lillian may Evans Blackmon who survives.  Mr. Blackmon was a Holiness by Faith and was employed in the Weaving Department of Mt. Vernon Mills.  He was preceded in death by a brother the late Wayne Kenneth Blackmon and Sister the late Emma Jean Burroughs.  Surviving are his wife Bonnie Blackmon, mother Lillian Blackmon of Paulding Co.  , daughters 
Shelia Stanfield and Ava Hunter both of Trion. sons Lamar Blackmon and Robin Blackmon both of Summerville, Sisters Annett Mauldin of Summerville, Betty Toris of REx and Gail Strickland of Henry Cou. , Brothers Leon Blackmon of Atlanta, Roy Blackmon of Conyers, Donnie Blackmon of Paulding Co. Ricky blackmon of Carters ville., Rufus Blackmon of Rex and Billy Blackmon of Rome, 11 Grandchildren, 9 Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive… Funeral services will be Saturday at 1pm fromthe J. D. Hll Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Evans and REv. Emory Obit

Mr. Jesse Earl Emory, age 79 of Simmons Street in Trion passed away Tuesday January 13 at his residence.  Mr. Emory was born on September 14, 1929 in Lenoir County, North Carolina.  He was retired from Reigle Textile Corporation where he was cheif of security and was a member and deacon of the Trion First Baptist Church.  A Veteran of the United States Navy .Mr. Emory was preceded in death by his daughter Teresa Emory, his son Timothy Emory, his father and mother, William A. Emorya nd Cora Tutton Emory and his brothers Douglas Emory, Charlie Emory and Harry Emory.He is survived by his wife, Margaret Emory of Trion, a sister Edith Smith of North Carolina, and two nieces Erica Yearwood of Cartersville and Elizabeth Carlini of Cartersville, several other nieces and nephews survive.Funeral Services will be held Thursday January 15th at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Payne officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.He will lie in state Thursday from 1:30-2:30 PM at the Funeral Home.  Pallbearers: Dickie Anderson, J.R. Pope, Leo Lanier, Clifford Pledger, Dr. Gary Smith and William Henderson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all members of Trion Little League teams that he coached and the deacons of Trion First Baptist Church.  In Lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to the Trion First Baptist Church building Fund.

Mrs. Candy Lynn Reed, age 42 of Summerville, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2009 following a brief illness.

Mrs. Reed was born in Ft. Payne, Alabama on July 25, 1966, daughter of Russell Pope and Mattie Ballenger Ballard. She was formerly employed as a nurse, but at the time of her death, spent her time as a devoted mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband, Jeff Reed of Summerville, daughters & son-in-law, Brooke & Jason Burrage of Summerville, & Courtney Reed & her fiancé, Josh Jarrett of Jasper Co, GA; Mother & Step-father, Mattie & Jerry Ballard of Alabama; Father & Step-mother, Russell & Carolyn Pope of Tunnel Hill; Brother, Charles Pope (Shannon Willingham) of Menlo; Sisters, Barbara Barnett of Pisgah, AL, Litrissa Pope of Summerville and Shauna Pope and Tracey Pope of Tunnel Hill; Father-in-law & Mother-in-law, Herbert & Shirley Reed; 2 grandchildren, Cameron Leigh Burrage of Summerville, and Zoiee Elizabeth Jarrett of Jasper Co., GA.

According to Mrs. Reed’s wishes, she will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family respectfully asks that no flowers be sent, but wish that memorial contributions be made to the Chattooga County Food Pantry.

 

Mrs. Sera Adams Pullen Obituary

Mrs. Sera Adams Pullen, age 92, of Lyerly passed away Saturday morning in a Rome hospital. A native of Austell, GA, she was born to the late Vandiver Tilden and Elizabeth Techorah Sanders Adams on August 10, 1916. Mrs. Pullen was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church, a homemaker, and was preceeded in death by her husband the late Jodie A. (Joe) Pullen.

Surviving are her beloved sos & daughters-in-law Joe & Jan Pullen of Lyerly and Van & Phyllis Pullen of Summerville; grandchildren – Andrea & Greg Ingram of Atlanta and Allison Pullen of Summerville; great grandchildren – Drew Pullen and Will Pullen; sevreal neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will e held Monday, January 12th, at 4:00pm from the Summerville First Baptist Chruch with Rev. Roger McDonald and Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetary. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 until 7pm at Earle Rainwater Funearal Home. At other hours the family will be at the residence of son – Joe and Jan Pullen in Lyerly.

Mrs. Charlotte "Dang-Dang" Sprayberry, age 68, of 199 Cherry Street, Trion passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Sprayberry was born October 16, 1940 in Trion, GA. She was a housewife and Baptist by faith.

Mrs. Sprayberry was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jessie Dexter and Myrtle Mathany Hardy; sister Nina Teal and brothers J.D. Hardy and Sammy Hardy.

She is survived by her husband, Rayford W. Sprayberry of Trion, daughter and fiance, Pam Green and Jay Jones of Trion, Grandson and fiance, Eric Glenn and Tammy Youngblood of Trion, Grandson, Kevin Glenn of Trion; great-granddaughter, Cassie Glenn of Trion and great-grandson, Dawson Glenn of Chickmauga; very special friend Susan Wallin of Trion; 4 sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2 P.M. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev, Charles Izell and Rev. Robert Spears officiating. Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery.

Howard Obit

Mr. Herman Daniel “Danny” Howard, age 54, of Trion, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Hutcheson Medical Center.

Mr. Howard was born in Trion, Georgia on November 26, 1954, son of the late Tillman Howard and Effie Mae Bowman Howard. He was an auto mechanic by trade and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Howard was a special nephew of the late Neil Bowman, Sr., and was preceded in death by a son, Shayne Howard, and brothers, Johnny Howard, Tim Howard and Jimmy Howard.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Joy Howard; Stepson, Larry Sauls; Daughter and son-in-law, Tabitha Howard and Jeffrey Kim Johnson; nephew, Scott Howard; Grandchildren, Jackson, Ryan, Eli, and McKenzie and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Howard will be held Friday, January 9, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Bro. Joel Smith officiating. Private Interment services will be in the West Hill Cemetery.
