Burnett Obituary (incomplete)

Mrs. Thelma Rush Burnett, age 91, of Sunset Lane in Trion, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 in a local nursing home. A native of Heflin, Alabama, Mrs. Burnett was born to the late Leemon and Flora Mae Rooks Edwards on August 30, 1917. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was retired from the weave shop of Reigel Textile.

Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her first husband, the late William Otha Rush, as well as three brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are her son, Gaylon Rush; daughter – Marilyn Wood, both of Summerville; husband – Gladstone Burnett, of Trion; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters – Sybil Brown of Carrollton, GA and Dean Pendley of Monck’s Corner, SC; several neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Hartline Obituary

Ms. Amanda Rose Hartline, age 31, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 in Cherokee Medical Center.

Ms. Hartline was born August 24, 1977 in Rome, GA, the daughter of Kimberly Bullard and Billy Mitchell. She had been employed with the Chattooga County E-911 as a dispatcher. Ms. Hartline was of the Baptist faith and attended Chesterfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Johnny Cavin, and her great-grandparents.

Survivors include her son, Drew Morris, Gaylesville, AL, parents, Kimberly Bullard and Billy Mitchell, Gaylesville, AL, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Crystal Hartline, Gaylesville, AL, grandmother, Farice Cavin, Gaylesville, AL, niece, Isabella Hartline, special niece, Danielle Hartline, aunt and uncle, Becky and Phil Lenderman, Summerville, GA and special cousin, Whitney Bullard, Summerville, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. E.S.T., Monday, November 3, 2008 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Clark and Bobby Cavin officiating. Burial will follow in Ami Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Hartline, Jamie Cavin, Jeff Barnes, Bobby Cavin, Richard Chumbler, Jackie Pritchett, Michael Stancil, and Tom Bullard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Chesterfield Community.

Ms. Hartline will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. E.S.T. on Sunday, November 2, 2008.

Mrs. Emma Ovelle “Granny Bell” Freeman, age 89, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, October, 29, 2008 at her residence.Mrs. Freeman was born December 20, 1918 in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of the
late James and Nettie Mae Smilley Timmons.  She was a member of the Freedom Fellowship and a retired Textile Worker. Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, Dickie Freeman and a son, Carl Hughes, SR.Survivors include her children, Steve Wells, Frances Gilreath, Summerville, GA, Lynda Bomar, Calhoun, GA, Anne Brown, Summerville, GA; brother, Bernard Timmons,sisters, Dolly Lively, Dessie Crabtree, and Delvie Mae Reed; 19 Grandchildren, 30 Great-grandchildren; and 9 Great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the FreedomFellowship with Rev. Kenneth Westmoreland and Rev. Mrs. Hazel Lou Elrod, age 86,of Trion, GA died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Oak ViewNursing & Rehabilitation Center in Summerville, GA.
Mrs. Elrod was born August 11, 1922 in Gordon County, GA, the daughter of the late George and Nellie Hix Hall.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church.Mrs. Elrod was also a member of a Knitting Club and a Walking Club.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oneil Elrod; brothers, Georgie Hall, Willard Hall, and Claude Hall; sister & brother-in-law, Doris & Bolly Wilbanks; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Sue & Floyd Carroll; brother-in-law, Roy Elrod. Elrod Obit (Incomplete)

Mrs. Hazel Lou Elrod, Age 86 of Mtn. View Road in Trion, passed away Tuesday morning at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Timmons Obit

Mr. Thomas Lee Timmons age 79 of Jenkins Gap Road in Summerville passed away Sunday morning at his residence.

Mr. Timmons was a native of DeKalb County, Alabama born to the late Robert L. and Octavie Garmany Timmons on July 29, 1929.  He was a Baptist by faith and a retired auto mechanic.  He was preceded in death by his wife the late Aquilla Rash Timmons and daughters the late Wanda Payne and the late Marion Timmons; sister the late Alice Ward and a brother the late R.B. Timmons.

Surviving are daughters Brenda Pierce, Katherine Galloway, Anita Shaw and Barbara McDonald all of Summerville; sons, Lewis Timmons and Marvin Timmons both of Summerville and Jerry Timmons of Trion; sisters, Ola McWhorter of Trion and Anna Lee Dodson of Summerville; borthers, J.B. Timmons and Arlee Timmons both of Trion, 23 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren several neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 1 PM from the JD HIll Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Reve. Ricky Biddle and Chaplain George officiating.  Interment will be in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers: Jerry Timmons, Sherman Cooper, Marvin Timmons, Jr., Tommy Cooper, Dale Galloway, Alton Shaw and Scott Payne; Honorary Pallbearers will be the nurses of Southern Care Hospice.  The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 PM at the Funeral Home and at other hours the family will be at the residence of a daughter, Barbara McDonald on Jenkins Gap Road in Summerville.

Warren Obit

Mr. Marvin Eugene Warren, age 75 of Back Penn Road in Summerville passed away Saturday at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Warren was born December 13, 1932 in Chattooga County son of the late Tiny Warren and Della Mae Warren.  Also preceeding him in death were tow brothers Bobby Warren and Jerry Warren.  Mr. Warren was a Baptist by faith.

Survivors are his wife, Pallie Jo Templeton Warren, daughters Gina Warren, Donna Dixon, Sandy Gordon of Savannah, GA and a son Ken Warren of Savannah, GA; a stepson Kenny Hollingworth of Trion, a special friend Ann Hawkins of Trion, 4 sisters, Doris Hughes of Austell, GA, Vivian Black of Summerville, Joann Ranton of Kennesaw and Margaret Croader of Smyrna, Ga.  1 brother Roy D. Warren of Rome, Ga. Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services will be conducted today (Monday Oct. 27) at 2 PM from the chapel of the Erwinn-Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.  Interment will be at the Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Mr. Warren will lie in state today from 12-2 PM.  Pallbearers will be Denny Strickland, Ken Hollingworth,Jr., Gerald Bearden, Eddie Templeton, Johnny Williams and Jeremy Knapp, they are asked to assemble at the Funeral Home by 1:30 PM.

Mr. John Frank (Johnny) Cavin, age 72, of Gaylesville, AL., passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Cavin was born June 12, 1936 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of
 the late Roy and Francis Powell Cavin.  He was retired from Mohawk Industries.
Mr. Cavin was a member of  the Chesterfield Baptist Church and the Northeast  Alabama Fox Hunters Association.
Survivors include his wife, Farice Cavin; daughters and son-in-law,
Kimberly Bullard, Gaylesville, AL, Rebecca and Phil Lenderman,
Summerville, GA; brother, Buster Cavin; sisters, Katie Barnes, and
Charlotte Chumbler, all of Gaylesville, AL; grandchildren, Jerry Hartline  and

Stowe Obit

Mrs. Carleen Woods Stowe, age 74 of Woods Road in Summerville passed away Friday at her residence.  Carleen was born April 24, 1934 in Chattooga County and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church and was very active in the W.M.U., Awana, Primary Sunday School Class Teacher, Young at Heart, Choir and the HELP Team.

Carleen was preceded in death by her father and mother, Carl William Woods and Annie June Olive Woods. 

Survivors are her husband of 55 years, Robert Eugene Stowe of Summerville, daughter and special friend, Brenda Thomas and Frank Johnston of Summerville; son and daughter in law, Richard and Elaine Stowe of Sumemrville; grandchildren, Jeff Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Heather Coley, Justin Stowe and Morgan Stowe; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday October 26 at 3 PM at the chapel of the Erwin- Pettitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home on Saturday.

Gary L. Chamlee Obituary

Gary Lawayne Chamlee, age 46, of Summerville, GA., passed away Friday, October 17, 2008 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Chamlee was born May 18, 1962 in Trion, GA, the son of Vivian Leath Shireman and the late Kenny Chamlee. He was employed at Mohawk Industries. Mr. Chamlee attended the North Summerville Baptist Church. He was a long time coach with the Summerville Recreation League. He was preceded in death by a son, Shane Chamlee; father, Kenny Chamlee; grandparents, Arvin & Velma Chamlee, and Mae & Howard Leath; sister, Lynn Brown; and mother-in-law, Wanda Gann.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Gann Chamlee; mother and step-father, Vivian Leath Shireman and Douglas Shireman, brother and sister-in-law, Bo and Lydia Chamlee; brother-in-law, William Gann; all of Summerville, GA, sister-in-law and spouse, Patricia and Willard Hall, Clearwater, FL; several Nieces and Nephews.

Mr. Chamlee will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday, October, 18, 2008.

At other hours the family will be at 52 Scoggins Street, Summerville.

At his request, Mr. Chamlee will be cremated.
