Mr. John William “Booster” Jones, age 64, of LaFayette, GA, died Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Parkridge East Hospital.
 
Mr. Jones was born July 18, 1956, in Summerville, GA, son of the late McKinley and Sadie Terrell Jones.  He was retired from Menlo Sawmill.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his sisters, Gloria Price, Minnie Jones, Carolyn Jones, Rosa Dell Jones Bennett; brothers, George Jones, Nathan Jones, Author Jones, and Cicero Jones.
 
Graveside services for Mr. Jones will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at AMI Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

Captain Eddie Stroup Obit (ER)

CAPTAIN EDDIE LEE STROUP, age 65, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away early Saturday morning, October 31, 2020.  Mr. Stroup was born in Fulton County, Georgia of November 24, 1954, to the late Charlie and Myrtice Carnes Stroup.  He was raised in Cedartown, Georgia, and was a 1972 graduate of Cedartown High School.  Following graduation Mr. Stroup served in the U. S. Air Force, the U. S. Air Force Reserve, and the Army National Guard.  He began his law enforcement career in 1992 with the Rockmart, Georgia Police Department rising to rank of Lieutenant.  He was later employed with the Polk County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy, becoming the first K-9 Unit in Polk County, Georgia.   In 2001 Mr. Stroup joined Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department holding positions of Deputy, Road Captain, Investigator, Chief Investigator, and as of late, Jail Administrator.  Mr. Stroup loved Knowing that throughout his career, he was able to help those in need.  Mr. Stroup was married to Rhonda Lynn Tucker Robinson, on April 1, 2006, in a beautiful ceremony in the mountains of Tennessee, surrounded by their loving children.  In addition to His Parents, he in preceded in death by a brother the late Gary Wayne Stroup.

 

    Surviving is His loving wife, Rhonda Lynn Stroup; son, Charlie Joe Stroup (Aubrey); steps sons, John Nicholas Robinson (Sierra) and Ethan Tyler Robinson (Chelsey); grandchildren, Rory Stroup, Maura Stroup, Aiden Robinson, and Lincoln Robinson.

 

    Private Funeral service will be held Wednesday at the Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Sheriff Mark Schrader, Chief Deputy Kevin Woods, and Pastor Joel Smith officiating, entombment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Pallbearers, Steve Tucker, Jeremiah Tucker, Zach Pettett, Jason Burrage, Caine Railey, Brian Tucker, and B. J. Montgomery; Honorary Pallbearers include the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department and Chattooga County Jail Staff.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Widows Fruit Fund at Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. George Ruben Allmon Obit (M)

Mr. George Ruben Allmon, age 77, of Trion, GA, died Thursday, October 29, 2020, at his residence.
 
Mr. Allmon was born January 22, 1943, in LaFayette, GA, son of the late Rube and Fannie Grigsby Allmon.  He was a member of Hall Memorial Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Padgett Trucking.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Allmon was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Juanita Painter Allmon; a son, David Steven Allmon; brother, Lee Allmon; sisters, Mattie Ruth Cochran and Daisy Chastain; and a great-grandson, George Jessie Lee Allmon.
 
Survivors include his sons, Randy Allmon, Butch Allmon; daughter, Madie Sanders; brothers, Faye Allmon, Bo Allmon; sisters, Clara Cochran, Linda Sutton, Carolyn Ferguson, and Teresa Middleton; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
 
Graveside services for Mr. Allmon will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Subligna Cemetery with Rev. Junior Williams and Rev. Larry Scoggins officiating.  Pallbearers will be Josh Sells, David Sells, Mike Sutton, Terry McCullough, Preston Allmon, and Curtis Cochran.
 
Visitation will be held privately.
