Mrs. Connie Diann Reed, age 49 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 following an extended illness.
Mrs. Kathryn Blalock Vernon, age 91, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Vernon was born November 12, 1928, in Broomtown, AL, daughter of the late Calvin and Lula Don Hartline Blalock. She was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Broomtown. She loved sewing, gardening, and farming, but most of all, loved babysitting her grandchildren and the other special children in her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Vernon; brothers, Hugh Blalock and Bob Blalock; and a sister, Nell Dodd.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Donnie) Hall; son, Tommy Vernon; grandchildren, Sammy Vernon, Mandy Miller, Anna Sidel, Becky Dodson, Andrea Hall Hayes, and Ashley Hall; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Billy Blalock and Ronald Blalock; special little brother, Harold Blalock; special nephew, Greg Blalock; and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Vernon will be held at 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) Friday, March 27, 2020, at Mount Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Andy Kellett officiating. The family and staff of Mason Funeral Home encourage anyone attending the graveside service to keep in mind the current recommendations set forth by the C.D.C. pertaining to social gatherings.
Visitation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Mount Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
