Mrs.Sue Key Goodridge Obit (C)

Sue Key Goodridge, age 102, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the  Oakview Health and Rehabilitation, in Summerville, Georgia. 

 

Sue was born in Cloudland, Georgia on February 14, 1914 to William and America Blansit Key. She lived most of her life in Cloudland, GA, with her late husband Bill Goodridge. Sue is preceded in death by a daughter, Billy Sue Williams of Sorrento, FL; five sisters and two brothers.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Jackie K. Wright of Fort Payne, AL,  and Sandra Rae Rowe of Eustis, FL; son, Jerry W. Johnson of Waddley, AL.  Sue had 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren. She had a special love for her dear pets, which included dogs, cats, and a hen.

 

Visitation will be held at Coffman Funeral Home,

Summerville, GA on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 2 PM

to 4 PM, with grave side services at 4:45 PM at AMI Cemetery in Menlo, GA.  Family and friends will have a life celebration at The Lawrence Center, 71 Edison Circle, Menlo GA, following graveside service.

Mr. Hugh Don Tallent, Obit. (M)

Mr. Hugh Don Tallent, age 70, of Gaylesville, AL, (Rinehart Community) died Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence.
 
Mr. Tallent was born May 25, 1946 in Fort Payne, AL, the son of Maggie Ray Tallent and the late Cecil Tallent.  He was retired from Mohawk Industries.  He was also a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam.
 
Mr. Tallent is survived by his mother, Maggie Tallent; daughter, Michelle Tallent McCool; son, Donnie Webb; sister, Carol Tallent; brothers, Larry Tallent and Charles “Fuzz” Tallent.
 
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. (EST) Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Berlin Murphy officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Jamie McCullough, Leslie McCullough, Steve Marshall, Jeremy Tallent, Chad Tallent, and Brandon Tallent.  Honorary pallbearers will be all friends; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brown, Dwight and Barbara McCullough; and special caregiver, Betty Morris.

Mr. Ronald Michael (Ronnie) Roan, Obit. (ER)

MR. RONALD MICHAEL (RONNIE) ROAN, age 66, of James Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday afternoon in a Rome hospital.  He was born in Arab, Alabama on February 3, 1950, a son o the late Grady and Helen Margaret Kilgore Roan.

        Surviving are wife, Gladys Hamby Roan; children, Hattie Mae Evans, Leon & Sandy White, Billy Frank & Elizabeth Willingham, Shawn Douglas Rains, and Michael Leon & Shannon White; grandchildren, Timothy Evans, Daisy White, Todd White, Shane Evans, Anthony Hamby, Shay White, Tommy Hamby, Austin White, Stephanie Hamby, and Steven Hamby; great grandchildren, Kielee Owens, Lane Evans, Julie Eskew, Destiny Evans, & Catherine McFarland; sisters & brothers, Donnie Ray & Tammy Roan, Zandel & Judy Roan, Geneve Edwards, Carolyn & Tony Prater, Louise & Roger Jenkins, Loyle & Ruthie Roan, Dolye & Gail Roan, Alton Roan, Eddie Lee Roan, and Era Mae McGraw; several Nieces & Nehpews.

Mr. Ricky Lamar Wooten, Obit. (C)

Mr. Ricky Lamar Wooten, age 51, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 in Attalla, Alabama.

 

Mr. Wooten was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 2, 1965, son of the late Jimmy Ray Wooten and Barbara Ann Carter.  He was employed as a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Wooten was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Wooten.

 

Mr. Wooten is survived by a son, Jacob Wooten; daughters and son-in-law  Nicole Wooten and Ashley and Jed Walden; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Melissa Wooten; special aunt Linda Wooten; grandchildren, Brevan Knight, Brooklyn Walden, Slayde Walden, Havin Wooten, Madisyn Wooten and Adilyn Williams and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Wooten will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Bro. Joel Smith and Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Roger Wooten, Nathan Petty, Jed Walden, Johnny McCormick, Tommy Petty and Brandon Wooten. Honorary Pallbearers are Rex and Wally Laney.

MRS. BETTYE EARLE LEE BUSBIN, 87, of Summerville, Georgia went to be with Jesus Christ, previously departed family and friends Wednesday, June 22, 2016, @ Alive Hospice, Nashville, Tennessee.  Mrs. Busbin was born January 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Henry Benjamin Lee & Flora E Nelson Lee.  She and her late husband, James Walter “Buddy” Busbin, were self employed, operating James W. Busbin Contractors, Inc. for 40 years.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.  Mrs. Busbin enjoyed a long and blessed life and passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her children.

        Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Bettye Lee  and Jeffery Finley, Brentwood, TN., Melody Grace and Jimmie Hampton, Nashville, TN., Susan Earle Busbin Hirsch, Marietta; son and daughter-in-law James Walter “Buz” and Elizabeth Pax Busbin, Summerville; grandchildren, David Hirsch, Alison Hirsch, Emily Hirsch, James “Trey” Busbin, III, Olivia Pax Busbin, and Caleb Lee Hampton; foster son, Kenneth Rapier Busbin.

Mr. Elbert Darrell Skinner, Obit. (C)

Mr. Elbert Darrell Skinner, Sr., age 79 of Summerville, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at his residence.

 

Mr. Skinner was born in Bloomington, Indiana on May 17, 1937, son of the late William Jasper Skinner and Wilma Berniece Kindred Skinner. He was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church, and the Lyerly Masonic Lodge #338 F&AM.  Mr. Skinner was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict.  He loved to fly and build Ultralight planes, work with wood and spending time with his grandchildren and family.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Skinner was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Allen and Judy Bruce, and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Skinner.


 

Mr. Skinner is survived by his wife, Annette Skinner; daughter, Lisa Skinner Fowler; sons, Darrell Skinner, Jr. and his wife Leah, Steve Skinner and Brad Skinner; brother, Richard Skinner; sister, Karen Stivers; grandchildren, Chalee Skinner Williams, Cierra Fowler Jennings, Steven Skinner, Terran Skinner, Shannon Fowler, Trent Skinner and Brandon Skinner; great grandchildren, Halle Lively, Casen Williams and Lanie Williams; special friends, Donna and Mike Horrall and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Skinner will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Fleming, Obit. (M)

Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Fleming, 91, passed away peacefully from this life on June 23, 2016, at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, KY. She was surrounded by her family.
Bonnie Ruth Fleming was born June 13, 1925 in Trion, Georgia, the daughter of the late Archie Henry and Maggie Grimes Thomas. She was united in marriage to Mr. Raymond Clifford “Tip” Fleming on June 22, 1946.  She was a business woman, operating Fleming Fabrics from 1960 thru 1968. After closing her business, she was employed by the Somerset Housing Authority, rising to the position of Executive Director before her retirement years.  Bonnie was a charter member of the Beacon Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang In the choir.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband; Raymond “Tip” Fleming on February 21, 1986; two sisters, Katie Ledbetter, and Nell Williams; and three brothers, Herman, Glen and Ralph Thomas.
She is survived by her son; Brent (and Beverly) Fleming; one grandson, Adam Brent Fleming; and one brother, James Thomas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fleming will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, June 27, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brian Robinson officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brent Fleming, Adam Fleming, Mark Searles, Todd Thomas, Matt Thomas and Trey Skelton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Thomas, Scott Thomas, and Sam Thomas.

Mrs. Sharon Rounsaville Goodwin Obit (Willis)

MRS. SHARON ROUNSAVILLE GOODWIN – AGE 68, – Of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016.  She was born in Summerville, Georgia to the late Clifford and Louise McCutchins Rounsaville.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Zayas, and two brothers, Robert and James Rounsaville.  Sharon was a graduate of Spellman College and was a retired teacher of the Chattooga County School System.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Goodwin of Rome, Georgia; children, Paul G. (Tina) Goodwin of Nashville, Tennessee, Stanasha Goodwin, Christopher Goodwin of Summerville, Georgia, Asia Price of Rome, and Andrea Trice, of Rome; sister, Brenda R. Burks; brother, Cicero A. “Sonny” Rounsaville; aunt, Aileen McCutchins of Summerville; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 1:00 p. m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 224 Dunwoody Road, LaFayette, Georgia with Pastor Rheubin M. MRS. CONNIE JEWELL BROWN, age 96, of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016), morning in the local nursing home.  A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born on February 14, 1920.  Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, the late Elgin D. Brown on February 22, 1967, daughter, the late Robin Brown, and son-in-law, the late Tom Ochs, five Sisters, and six Brothers also preceded Her.  She was Baptist by Faith, and worked with Menlo School, Mt. Vernon/Reigel, and Best Mfg. Company.

        Surviving are daughter, Anise Ochs of Hawkinsville, Ga.; sons, Dewey (Barbara) Brown, Doyle (Joyce P.) Brown, and Tarzan (Pam) Brown all of Menlo, Tom (Joyce H.) Brown of Gaylesville, Al., and Gary Brown of Ft. Payne, Al.; nine Grandchildren, eleven Great Grandchildren, six Great Great Grandchildren also survive.

MS. TRUE VILLOR BUTLER, age 67, of Marvin Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at her residence.  A native of Catoosa county, GA, She was born to the late Milford Howard and Minnie Raines Butler on March 12, 1949.
Ms. Butler was a member of Harrell Street Church of God and a homemaker.

        Surviving are brothers, Howard Butler, Joe Butler, Delon Butler, and David Butler; half sister, Johnnie Garmony; half brother, Robert Butler; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive.

        A Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 23rd, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Freddie Bell officiating.  The Family will receive friends Thursday from 1 P.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.
