Mrs. Sara Jane Barnett Henderson Obit (C)

Mrs. Sara Jane Barnett Henderson, age 80, of the Pennville Community, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Henderson was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on June 17, 1933, daughter of the late Clifford Barnett and Maggie Sue Seymore Barnett. She was a member of the Pennville Missionary Alliance Church, the Best Silver Club, and prior to retirement was employed in the Sewing Plant at Best Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Henderson, a son, Donnie Henderson, an infant son, and a great granddaughter, Shawna McNeese.

Mrs. Henderson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Rita Henderson of Summerville; daughters and son-in-law, Marilyn and Mickey Silvers and Lori Westbrooks all of Summerville; brother, Charles Barnett of Griffin, GA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and an number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Henderson will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ken Anderson, Will McNeese, Bobby Spear, Terry Cook, Kyle Spear, and Greg Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mickey Silvers, Rickey Silvers and the Retirees from Best Manufacturing Sewing Plant.

Mrs. Henderson will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Shirley Dean McGuire Obit (ER)

MRS. SHIRLEY DEAN McGUIRE, age 76, of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in a LaFayette Nursing Home. A native Chattooga countian, she was born on July 24, 1937 to the late Jessie Roy, Sr. and Annie Mae Dean McGraw. She attended Living Waters Ministries, was retired from Mount Vernon Mills after 34 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was preceded in death by sons- Marty McGuire, Melvin McGuire and Johnny McGuire; sisters- Gail Sispy, Aline Cordle and Martha Johnson; brothers- Archie McGraw, Buddy McGraw and Jessie Roy McGraw, Jr.

Surviving are daughters-Dale McGraw and Vickie Holbrook of Trion; sons- Darty McGuire and Darrell McGuire of Trion; step-son- Larry McGuire of Summerville; a Sister Mary Keller of Inman, S.C.; 12 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21st, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Chasteen and Rev. Danny Decker officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Darrell McGuire, Jr., Christopher McGuire, Carl Gentry, Jeremiah Asher, John Asher, and Jim Odum. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Friday from 1 P.M. until the hour of service.

Mrs. Lynn Vanpelt Hawkins Obit (ER)

MRS. LYNN VANPELT HAWKINS, age 61, of Rossville Blvd.-Trion, Georgia passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, in a Chattanooga Hospital. A native Chattooga countian, She was born on April 15, 1952 to the late Marcus Ray Vanpelt and Catherine Reed Vanpelt, who survives. She attended the Dry Valley Baptist Church, was a CNA in health care, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Daniel (Jim) Hawkins, Jr. and a son, the late Christopher Brian “Chris” Hawkins. Surviving are daughter-Terri Marlow of Trion; mother-Catherine Reed Vanpelt of Summerville; granddaughters-Emily Katlin Marlow, Leigh Anna Marlow, and Maggie Marlow; a Sister and Nephew also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20th, at 1:00 P.M. from the Dry Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers-Gene Martin, Brannon Martin, Landon Jones, Jason Hughes, Lamar Pettyjohn, Steve Waddell, and Jay Henry. Mr. Donnie Carroll Obit (M)

Mr. Donnie Carroll, age 60, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday March 15, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Carroll was born September 21, 1953, in Lafollette, TN, the son of John Lee and Anner A. Smith.  He was formerly employed with Mohawk  as a hyster driver.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Coker Carroll, daughters, Christina Dodd, Christie Camp, sons, Chris Carroll, Jeremy Carroll, Shaun Thompson, Jake Gravitt, sister Rosa Webster, brother, Johnny Lee Carroll, and  12 grandchildren.

Funeral  service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday March 17, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Dodd officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Coleman, Terry Bryant, Robert Bryant, Michael England, Larry Edgeworth, Bill Hubbard.

Mr. Carroll will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday March 16, 2014.

Mrs. Peggy Marie Hix Smith Obit (M)

Mrs. Peggy Marie Hix Smith, age 67, of Summerville, GA died Thursday,

March 13, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Smith was born November 24, 1946, in Trion, GA, the daughter of the

late Winford Duncan Hix and Edith Effie Turner Hix.  She was retired from

Trion City Schools.  Other than her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in

death by a brother, Winford “Buddy” Hix.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald W. Smith; daughters, Robbie Bradley and

Wendy McCullough; step-son, Wayne Smith; sister, Patsy Williams; grandchildren, Stephanie McRae, Justin McRae, Dakota Smith, Timothy Smith, and Ariel Strickland; great-grandchildren, Autumn McRae, and Hunter McRae.

At her request, Mrs. Smith will be cremated and a private memorial service

will be held at a later date.

Mr. Franklin Leroy McNeese (C)

Mr. Franklin Leroy McNeese, age 63, of the Pennville Community, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. McNeese was born in Trion, Georgia on September 26, 1950, son of the late Walter McNeese and Grace McDaniel. He was a 1967 graduate of the Chattooga High School anrd was an avid Bingo Player. Mr. McNeese was retired from Mohawk industries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Ann McNeese, a son, Ricky Lamar McNeese, a daughter, Stephanie Jane McNeese; brothers, Donald McNeese, Lamar McNeese and a sister, Ann Bullard.

Mr. McNeese is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Kevin Austin and Tammie Jean and Dennis Mitchell; brothers, Jerry McNeese, David McNeese, Wayne McNeese and Greg McNeese; sisters, Nancy Harris and Faye Thigpen; 5 grandchildren, Bruce Hicks, Shawn Hicks, Austin Hicks, Bradley Bullard, and Travis Bullard; three great grandchildren, J.W. Hicks, Savannah Hicks and Georgia Hicks; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. McNeese will be held Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Joshua McCullough, Donald Hatcher, Shane Hatcher, Justin Craig, Jerry Hatcher, Sammy Westbrooks and Nathaniel McNeese. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bradley Bullard and Travis Bullard.

Mr. Benjamin Jefferson Mosley Obit (Wright)

Mr. Benjamin Jefferson Mosley, age 61, of 602 Warren Rd., Armuchee, GA, passed  away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at a local hospital. Mr. Mosley was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on June 29, 1952. He was the sixth child of the late Hamp Mosley and the late Jessie Perry Mosley.

He was educated in the Chattooga County School System, and graduated an honor student. At an early childhood he joined Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was at employed at B & M Pulpwood Company, Rome, GA until he retired. Mr. Mosley was also preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Mosley.

He is survived by a special loving companion, Wanda Colley; five step-children, Eugene Colley Jr., Tammy Winston, Nikki Almond, Susan Colley and William Colley, all of Rome; five brothers, Hamp (Shirley) Mosley, Wayne (Annie Mae), Mosley, Gordon Mosley, Michael and Stanley Mosley, ; seven sisters, Jessie Starr, Paulette (James) Perry, Iris (Bishop Alex) Allen, Elaine (Steve) Owens, La’Trellial Mosey, Phyllis Price and Stacey (La’Dell) Kidd; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at  11 AM at Wright Memorial Chapel with Elder Victor Hopkins officiating. The body will lie instate at the Mortuary until the service hour. Interment and committal will  following the service. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Mr. Ralph Eugene Henry Obit (M)

Mr. Ralph Eugene Henry, age 88, of Haywood Valley, passed away Wednesday March 12, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Ralph Henry was born May 10, 1925, in Walker County, GA, son of the late George and Mattie Henry. He was a member of the South Commerce Street Church of Christ.  He was a member of the Cattleman’s Association, American Chestnut Foundation, GA Pork Growers Association, Paper Makers Union and was instrumental in establishing the largest backcross American chestnut test orchard in the state of Georgia.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII.  Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Frances Baker Henry, son Terry Wayne Henry, and daughters-in-law, Bobbie Dial, Sheila Henry and 1 great great granddaughter.

Mr. Henry is survived by sons James Dial, Steve Henry (Joan), daughters, Brenda Kinsey (Earl), Jane Hawkins (Bob), Faye Henry, Nancy Hester (Tim), Molly  Zablan (Butch), brothers Edward and Ray Henry, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 15, 2014 at 11 am at the Mason Funeral Home chapel.  Ministers Tommy Leslie, Tommy O’Kelley and Andrew Campbell officiating with interment to follow in Greenhill Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Randy Dial, Doug Kinsey, Graham Hester, Trae Zablan, Rick Topham and Alan Campbell.  Honorary pallbearers will be the men of South Commerce Church of Christ, Randy Toles, Miles Gifford and Josh Tudor.

Mr. Henry will be in state at  Mason Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014.

Mrs. Annie Ruth Romine Grogan Obit (M)

Annie Ruth Romine Grogan, age 83, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Lake Norman Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. 
Mrs. Romine Grogan was born March 4, 1931, in Gadsden, AL, daughter of the late Alvin and Beatrice Cameron.  She was known to her family and friends as a remarkably strong Christian lady.  She attended nursing school late in life and worked diligently as a nurse to meet the needs of her patients.  Mrs. Romine Grogan was an example of strength and forgiveness to all who were fortunate enough to witness her example.  She will be desperately missed by her family.  This earth has lost a light but Heaven has gained an angel. Mrs. Romine Grogan went to meet with her Lord and many of those dear to her, including her first husband, Duel Romine; daughter, Gail Romine Barnes; granddaughter Faith Romine Eilders, and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Romine Grogan is survived by husband, J.C. Grogan; daughters, Sheila Beason, Drusilla Norton, Amy Huskey, and Tiffany Romine; and sons David Romine and Shannon Romine; her sister, Marjorie Kennedy; brother, Buddy Cameron.
Funeral service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. from the Spring Creek Baptist Church.  Rev. Ken Norton and Rev. David Romine officiating with interment in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
 Pallbearers include Jacob Hutchins, RJ Miller, Gage Reece, Ethan Hutchins, Brandon Hollis, Jack Hollis, and Bradley Hunter.  Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tina Renee Goodwin Obit (M)

Mrs. Tina Renee Goodwin, age 45, of Trion, GA died Monday, March 3, 2014 at

her residence.

Mrs. Goodwin was born August 2, 1968 in Rome, GA, the daughter of William

Taylor Croy and Nora Idella Van Pelt Croy.  She was a homemaker.  Mrs. Goodwin

was preceded in death by grandparents, Beatrice and Glenn Burton, Curtis and Bertha Van Pelt; and a daughter, Ciera Nicole Key.

Survivors include her parents, William and Nora Croy; children, Gabriel Sipes,

Taylor Sipes, and Gabrielle Sipes; and grandchildren, Malachi Key and Derek Paulison.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Mason Funeral
