Mr. Robert Hugh Hawkins, age 81, of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, evening in Austell, Georgia. A native of Cloudland, He was born on February 4, 1933 to the late Riley Monroe and Susie Alma Chislom Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church. He supervised the construction of Nuclear cooling towers at Tullahoma, Tennessee and Scottsboro, Alabama. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He loved his Family and Lookout Mountain and was a lifelong proud resident of Cloudland, Georgia. He was preceded in death by the following siblings-Gordon Hawkins, Sidney Hawkins, Myrtle Willingham, Fred Hawkins, Sudie Mae Hawkins, Ralph Hawkins, Thelma Wofford, Sue Reeves, Max Hawkins, and Riley Hawkins.
Surviving are His wife-Catherine Gorham Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law, -Kathy and Tim Sims, Kennesaw; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Hugh and Tracy Hawkins, Cloudland; grandsons-James Alexander Sims and Andrew Robert Sims; great grandson-Colton Tanner Sims; sister-Marie Wofford; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 16th, at 1:30 P.M. from Graveside in Cloudland Presbyterian Cemetery, with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating, active pallbearers Lee Hawkins, Steve Wofford, Mark Wofford, Tony Jones, Dennis Bryant, Albert Palmour. The Family will receive friends Saturday evening, at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Catherine Marie Colbert, age 88, of Summerville, GA, passed away Wednesday February 12, 2014, in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Colbert was born May 25, 1926, in Jamestown, AL, the daughter of the late Brown and Pearl Bramblett Barnes. She was a homemaker, and preceded in death by her husband, Clarance J. Colbert, a daughter, Cindy P. Colbert, great-granddaughter, Brianna Dalrymple, great-grandson, Rob Dalton, sister, Betty Chastain, brother, Robert Barnes.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Ronald Crouch, Jan and Kenneth Dalton, grandchildren, David & Betty Crouch, Randy & Traci Dalrymple, Jr, Robby Dalton, Chris Dalton, great-grandchildren, Samantha Dalton, Saucey Dalton, Chase Pursley, and Pasiley Larman.
Graveside and interment service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 15, 2014 from the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating.

Mrs. Minnie Mae Pettyjohn Wardlaw, age 99 years, 11months and four days, of Trion, GA, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Wardlaw was born in the Spring Creek Community on March 6, 1914, daughter of the late Samuel Robert Pettyjohn and Ella Queen Hendrix Pettyjohn. She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church where she had been active for many years, serving as the pianist, Sunday school teacher, and taught Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wardlaw was preceded in death by her husband, F.M. “Sam” Wardlaw; granddaughter, Faith Romine Eilders; brothers, Archie Pettyjohn, Eugene Pettyjohn, Alfred Pettyjohn, Luther Pettyjohn, Tommy Pettyjohn, Herman Pettyjohn, and Cecil Pettyjohn; and sisters, Leanna Wooten and Gertrude Davis.
Mrs. Wardlaw is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and David Romine; granddaughter, Angela Hutchins and her husband, Ethan; great grandchildren, Jacob Hutchins, Taylor Hutchins, Kaitlyn Hutchins, Annie Eilders, and Molly Eilders; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Wardlaw will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Spring Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Pettyjohn, Rev. James Cargle and Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettyjohn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Pettyjohn, Chandler Pettyjohn, JR Brown, Terry Hampton, Brandon Hampton and Tony Farrow. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Gracie Ruth Hall, age 85, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Hall was born in Crossville, Alabama on November 8, 1928, daughter of the late Archie Baldwin and Ruth Barnes Baldwin. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills where she worked in the office of the Shipping Department. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Faye Broom, and her first husband, Herman Broom.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Ralph Hall of Trion; daughters, Gayle Mitchell of East Ridge, TN, Pam Hall of Summerville and Becky Davis of Cedartown; sons, Ronnie Hall of Ringgold and Kenneth Hall of Trion; brother, Russell Baldwin; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside and Interment services for Mrs. Hall will be held Friday, February 14, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Green Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Owen “Bud” Davis, Mr. Lee Wilcox and Mr. Max Baldwin officiating.

Mr. Frank Edward “Eddie” Jones, age 65 of Trion,
GA, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Jones was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April
25, 1948, son of the late James Monroe Jones
and Lula Mae White Holt. He was a member of
the Harrell Street Church of God and prior to
retirement, was employed as a truck driver. Mr.
Jones loved to work and in his spare time,
loved to build scale model ships. He will be
fondly remembered for his sense of humor.
Mr. Jones is survived by his children, Shea and
Ken Czernik of Grandbury, TX, Frankie Jones of
Summerville, Robbie Jones of Demorest, GA, Mike
and Toni Jones of Trion, and Greg and Tera Jones

Mrs. Barbara Carolyn Powell Duke, age 74, of Summerville, passed away Monday,
February 3, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Duke was born in Summerville Georgia on November 21, 1939,
daughter of Frank Bowers and the late Mildred Nelson Bowers. She
was a member of the Perennial Springs Baptist Church and prior to
retirement was employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation
as a secretary and dispatcher. Mrs. Duke loved to garden, planting
flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to
her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon
Cordell “Buck” Powell.
Mrs. Duke is survived by her husband, Charles Duke of
Summerville; sons, Barry Ross Powell and his companion,
Helen, of San Fernandina Beach, FL, and Tyra Bryan Powell
and his wife, Annie of Trion; daughter, Dawn Renee Anderson of Summerville;
Father, Frank Bowers of Summerville; stepson, Alan Duke;
stepdaughter, Amy Snipes; grandchildren, Shane Reece,
Lacey Clark, Shay Polcheck, Christopher Powell, Skyler Powell,
Estin Powell, Aydin Powell, Dakota Powell and Bryson Powell;
