MS. SHIRLEY MAE PERRY – AGE 72, – Of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013.  She was born August 14, 1940 to the late Mr. Nathaniel and Julia Mae Ryles Perry, one son, Danny Perry, granddaughter, Tonya Allen, and brother, Roger Perry.

Shirley will be sadly missed by her daughtes, Debbie Perry, Brenda (Willie) Long, Tammy (Fitzgerald) Christopher, Stacy (James) Parker, Tracy Perry, of Summerville, Georgia, and Lynn (Daniel) Stamper of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one son, Senorise McArthur Perry, Sr., of Summerville; brothers, Arthur Perry and James Perry; sisters, Maxine Montgomery, Janice Perry, Peggy Perry, and Barbara Perry of Summerville; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; Godbrothers, Mose Adams, Jr. and James Robert Thompson; special friend, Tommie Boykin; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 2:00 P. M. at New Spirit and Truth with Bishop V. T. Harden and other ministers officiating.  She will lie in state at the church from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.  Interment, Summerville Cemetery.  

MRS. BETTY JEAN POOL, age 81, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, in a Rome hospital. Mrs. Pool was born in Clay County, Alabama March 13, 1932 a daughter of the late John and Edith Britt Graben. Mrs. Pool was retired from food service in Chattooga County Schools, a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Clentis M. Pool on February 22, 2008.

Surviving are daughters- Teresa Reynolds and Renita Tucker both of Summerville; Karen Casey of Jacksonville, Al; Son-Jeff Pool of Decatur, Al. Grandchildren- Kenneth C. Tucker, Jeffery Pool, Jonathan Pool; sisters-Carolyn Smith of Lineville, AL. and Helen Norred of Ashland, AL.; brother-Jack Graben of Barfield, AL.; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Mason officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. MRS. HELEN VIRGINIA ARDEN, age 85, of Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at Her residence. A native of Shinbone Valley, Menlo, Georgia, She was born to the late Ben and Mae Lawson Wood Baker on December 5, 1927. Mrs. Arden graduated from Trion High School in 1945, was a member of Trion First Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and was retired Claims Clerk, in the General Office, for Riegel Textile Corporation from 1970 to 1992; She was presented the Georgia Textile Citizen of the Year award in 1987, by the then Governor Joe Frank Harris. She was preceded in death by husband the late Paul Wesley Arden on December 22, 2002. Surviving are daughter-Paula Arden of Trion; nieces and nephews-Steve Baker of Summerville, Carol Haynes of Athens, TN., Bobbye Jones of High Point, N.C., and Ben Baker of Rising Fawn; cousin-Lib Young of Shinbone Valley, Menlo; several Great Nieces and Great Nephews also survive. Memorial service will be held Sunday, July 7th, at 2:00 P.M. at Her residence on Simmons Street-Trion, with additional parking at the Trion First United Methodist Church; inurnment in West Hill Cemetery. MR. ELBERT ALLEN KEEN, age 73, of Keen Road-Summerville, Georgia, Teloga Community, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, morning in a Chattanooga hospital. A lifetime native of Chattooga County, Georgia, He was born to the late Elgin Elbert and Bertie Simmons Keen on March 6, 1940. Mr. Keen was a member of Beersheba Presbyterian Church, an avid golfer, and member of the Trion Golf Club; was production supervisor for PMI Industries, in LaFayette.

Surviving are His wife-Charlotte Ann Keen; daughter-Rebecca Dianne Boyd of Calhoun; son-Jeffery Allen Keen of Teloga; grandchildren-Stephen Keen, Alania Carpenter, Evie Ann Jones, Alan Keen, and Elizabeth Maddux; Six Great Grandchildren; sisters-Minnie Allmon of Trion, Jo Shamblin of Teloga, Evelyn Willingham of Summerville, Shelby Ward of Chelsea, and Mary Floyd of Lyerly; brother-David Keen, Sr. of Teloga; several Nieces and Nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Beersheba Presbyterian Church with Pastors Ken Terrell and Ronald Ragon officiating, interment in Macedonia Cemetery. MRS. JOHNNIE MAE WELLS, age 82, of Covington, Georgia, formerly of Trion, Georgia,

 passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2013, in a Covington Hospital.  Born October 17, 

1930 in Dekalb County, Alabama, She was a daughter of the late George Washington 

and Cleo Cain Williams.  Mrs. Wells, along with her former husband , the late 

Charles Edward Wells,  owned and operated the former Mt. View Grocery, 

later she also was a clerk for Ace Hardware and Trion Drugs.  Formerly, 

She was a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church.
 
	Surviving are children-Joyce Wells and John Hooper of Oxford,

 GA., Rhonda Wells and Bill Coody of Lilburn, GA., Jeff and Cindy Wells 

of Trion, Cindy Wells and Don Eaton of The Colony, TX.; grandchildren-Joshua

MRS, FRANCES LOUISE SMITH, age 64, of Knollwood Circle-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday(June 25, 2013) morning in a Rome hospital. Born in Chattooga County, Georgia on April 17, 1949, She was a daughter of the late John and Annie Belle Ponder Rosson. Mrs. Smith was Church of God by Faith and was preceded in death by her, husband , the late Jackie Eugene Smith and sisters-Esther Scruggs, McKayla Scruggs, and Katie Hawkins all died earlier.

Surviving are daughter-Mary Jane Smith of Summerville (Pennville Community); son-Anthony Eugene Smith of Summerville; brothers-Robert Rosson of Summerville, Tommy & Peggy Rosson of Lyerly, Billy Rosson and Wayne Rosson both of Summerville;

Mr. Jimmy Lee Colbert, age 71, of Calhoun, GA died Monday, June 24, 2013 at

Gordon Hospital.

Mr. Colbert was born July 8, 1941 in Summerville, GA, the son of Jessie Lee Dooley

Colbert Penland, and the late James Douglas Colbert.  He was self-employed in construction.

 Mr. Colbert was a member of NorthPointe Church and a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a loving father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Smith Colbert; son and daughter-in-law, Derek

and Jennifer Colbert; mother, Jessie Penland; sisters, Peggy Campbell and Paulette Owens;

brother, Doug Colbert; grandchildren, Bentley Colbert, Brayden Colbert, Blair Wilkey, and

Bailey Wilkey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p. m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at NorthPointe Church in

Adairsville, GA with Rev. G J Chandler and Rev. Fred Painter officiating.  Interment will be

at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be John Groover, Allen Myers, Ronald Everett, Roy Newberry, Michael Bryson,

Tim Bryson, and Frank Vineyard.  Terry Smithson will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mr. Colbert will be in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p. m.

Mr. Carlton Lee Kitchens, age 73, of Trion, GA, died Sunday, June 23, 2013

in Trion, GA.

Mr. Kitchens was born November 20, 1939 in Trion, GA, the son of the late

Lee Andrew Kitchens and Grace Hill Holbrook Kitchens.  He was retired from

the Town of Trion.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was a

member of Trion Masonic Lodge #160 and a charter member of Marquls

DeLafayette Daylight Lodge # 765 F&AM.  He was also a member of

I.O.O.F.-Unity Lodge #3, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Chattanooga, and the Royal

Arch Masons, Grand Chapter of GA, chapter #19.

Survivors include his long time companion, Margaret Stinson; children, Andy

Kitchens; Sharon Kitchens, Charlene Sanchez, Angie Edwards and husband,

Matt Edwards, and Christy Kitchens; brother, Wayne Kitchens; and 5 Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at

Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Parker, Doc Tanner, and Rev. Danny

Decker officiating.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with graveside

rites by Trion Masonic Lodge #160.  Active pallbearers will be Steve Clowdis,

Tim Thompson, Allen Towe, Hollis Siffles, Garlis Sparks, Shannon Goins,

Johnny Simmons, and Chad Spraggins.  Honorary pallbearers will be all members

of Trion Masonic Lodge #160.
