Mr. Larry Joe Dooley Obit (M)

Mr. Larry Joe Dooley, age 75, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, May 1,
2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Dooley was born February 26, 1937 in Summerville, GA, the son of
the late Ollie Dooley and Eddie Mae Colbert Dooley.  He was a self-employed
car salesman.  Mr. Dooley was a veteran of the United States Marines.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Arnold Dooley, and a grandchild, Dakota Dooley. 
 
Mr. Dooley is survived by his children, Billy Joe Dooley, Larry Dale Dooley,
Connie Dooley, and Sherry Rubright; and 6 Grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, May 4, 20212 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger and Rev. Leon Craig
officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers
are Jamie Walker, James Arnold, Lee Wilson, Randy Hartline, Jeff
Campbell, and Doug Colbert.
 
Mr. Dooley will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will
receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Thursday.
 

Mrs. Theresa Diane Lee Obit (EP)

   Mrs. Theresa Diane Lee, age 54 of Rossville, GA passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at her residence.  Mrs. Lee was born November 10, 1957 in Summerville, GA.  She was employed with Harbin Clinic  and was a member of the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church in Silver Creek, GA. 

   Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her father and mother, Elmer Mitchell and Lorena Searles Crouch; and a brother, David Smithson.

   Mrs. Lee is survived by husband, Bradley Lee of Rossville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Jessie Lee of Rossville, GA; daughter, Tara Lee of Rossville, GA; granddaughter, Libby Lee of Rossville, GA; grandson, Sawyer Lee of Rossville, GA; brother, Jerry Mitchell of Summerville, GA; several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Dr. Talmadge Barnes,  Dr. Phillip May officiating and testimony by Josh Lee.

   Mrs. Lee will lie-in-state Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Mrs. Jean L. Guinn Obit (ER)

MRS. JEAN L. GUINN, age 80, of Springcreek Road, Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at her residence. A Trion, Georgia native, Mrs. Guinn was born to the late Katie Baggett on April 30, 1931. She was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church and was retired from Riegel Textile Corporation spinning department. Mrs. Guinn was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Deborah Ann Gill, a grandson, the late Casey Ray Gill, and a brother, the late Jimmy Baggett. Surviving are Her husband, Edward Eugene Guinn; son & daughter-in-law, Danny & Beverly Guinn; grandchildren, Chris & Carolyn Gill, Stacy & Anjy Gill, Brian & Jerrilynn Gill, Jeremy Guinn, Kelia & Jim Purcell, and Danny & Nicole Guinn; eleven Great Grandchildren, two Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 1st, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Martha Bell Carpenter (M)

Mrs. Martha Bell Carpenter, age 84, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012.
 
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Rockmart, Georgia on August 19, 1927.  She was a member of the East Trion Church of God and was a homemaker. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, William Darnell Carpenter; her daughter, Joan Blackmon; and her sons, Rodney Carpenter and Greg Carpenter.
 
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by grandchildren, Tim & Lisa Blackmon, Tracy Sprayberry, Kristi & Tom Stevens, Jason & Misty Blackmon, Britt & Alaina Carpenter, Amber & Olin Woody, Kasey & Chris Cox and Zacj & Baylee Carpenter; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; son-in-law, Willie Blackmon; special cousin, Teresa & Jay Halbrooks; and a special friend, Tony Patterson.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Carpenter will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Chasteen and Rev. Gary Howell officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Gerald Eugene Hayes Obit (M)

Mr. Gerald Eugene Hayes, age 72, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.
 
Mr. Hayes was born in Trion, Georgia on June 1, 1939, the youngest child of the late James Elbert Hayes and Lottie Christol Hayes.  He was a 1957 graduate of Trion High School, where he played football and basketball.  Following High School, Mr. Hayes enlisted in the United States Navy, where he specialized in electronics.  After his discharge in 1962, he went to work for Warner Robins Air Force Base in the civil service division.  Mr. Hayes was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by two brothers, James Alec Hayes and Daniel Lee Hayes.
 
Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, Loretta Worsham Hayes; daughters and son-in-law, Margaret Loard of Athens, GA and Kathryne and Geoff Rice of Birmingham; brother and sister-in-law, William B. “Billy” Hayes; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth “Beta” and J.W. Greenwood; the light of his life, granddaughter, Emily Kathryne Rice of Birmingham; and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Graveside and Interment Services for Mr. Hayes will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Rob Pierce officiating.
 
Pallbearers will be Robin Greenwood, Steve Lanier, Jimmy Hayes, David Hayes, Robert Hayes and Benny Hayes.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Boyce Dooley, Lester Griffith, Charles McCloud and Patrick Groover.

Mrs. Thelma Lucindia Dover, age 83, of Trion, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Dover was born in Walker County, Georgia on March 11, 1929, daughter of the late Luther Albert Smith and Annie Mae Brown Smith. She was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church and prior to retirement, worked as an Inspector with Mt. Vernon Mills. Mrs. Dover was preceded in death by her husband, James Leroy Dover; son, Jimmy Leon Dover; brothers, Albert Andrew Smith and John Franklin Smith; and a sister, Lena Lea.

Mrs. Dover is survived by a son, James Lamar Dover; daughters, Brenda Joyce Dover and Mary Ann Shuler; brother, Joe Smith; sisters, Tina Shaffer, Faye Smith, Mary Wright, Josie Nichols and Imogene Arnold; four grandchildren, James Lamar Dover, Jr., Kristina Elliott, Megan Hurt and Victoria Shuler; 6 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Dover will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. in Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Studdard officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.

Mr. James Emory Cha Cha Bug Cochran Obit (M)

Mr. James Emory “Cha Cha Bug” Cochran, age 54 of Conyers, GA, formerly of Trion, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Cochran was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 1, 1958, son of Grady E. Cochran and Sara Allene Millican Cochran. He was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church, and a 1977 Graduate of Trion High School, where he was a member of the 1974 State Champion Football Team. He was a past member of the Trion 50 Yard Club and prior to retirement, was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills.

Mr. Cochran is survived by his wife, Debra Crosby Cochran; son and daughter-in-law, Taft and Carrie Cochran; daughters and son-in-law, Abby and Randy Parker and Donna Crosby; Parents, Grady and Sara Allene Cochran; two grandchildren, Austin Cochran and Justin Broyles; and two special friends, Robin Burkhalter and Betsy Perry.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cochran will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Shores and Mr. Roy Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Delbert Young and Rev. George Palmer officiating.

Mr. Jess Lee Davis, Jr. Obit (M)

Mr. Jess Lee Davis, Jr., age 83, of Trion, GA died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at LaFayette Health Care.

Mr. Davis was born March 25, 1929 in Stevenson, AL, the son of the late Jess Davis and Sarah Davis. He retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. He attended Mt. View Baptist Church and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Campbell Davis.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Larry Wesson, Shelia and Gary Weaver, and Susan and Dan Koch; 6 Grandchildren; and 10 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson and Rev. James Braddy officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Blackmon, Keith Gray, Barry Bourget, Dustin White, Kenneth Evans, and Johnny Ingle.

Mr. Charles Burton Obit (M)

Mr. Charles Benjamin Burton, age 66, of Trion, GA died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Burton was born July 6, 1945 in Bronx, NY, the son of the late Charles Burton and Frances Grace O’Brien. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Burton was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam.

Survivors include his children, Charles Benjamin Burton, III and wife, Tori Burton, Matthew Schylar Burton, Lyzette Borrero and husband, Jose Borrero; former wife, Phyllis Jane Burton; brothers, William Burton and Robert Burton; grandchildren, Riley BenjaminBurton, Kayla Consuegra, Alexis Arroyo, Xavier Borrero, and Eric Borrero.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Sunday, Aril 22,2012 at Mason Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a. m. until the service hour on Sunday.
