Donny Willingham Obit

Mr. Donny Patterson Willingham, age 56, of Halls Valley Drive, Trion, GA, passes away Wednesday November 25, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Willingham was born Jan. 14, 1953, in Chattooga County GA, the son of the late L.D. and Eunice Starkey Willingham.  He was preceded in death by sisters Nellie Willingham and Doris Pinion.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Kilgore Willingham, sons and daughter-in-law Mark and Kathy Willingham, Riley Willingham, Lafayette, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Johnny Caylor, Trion, GA, brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Debbie Willingham, Trion, GA, sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Johnny Shafer, Shelia Willingham, Beck Thomas and Dave Quihillalt, Trion, GA, Nita and Terry Smith, Summerville, GA, Randall Pinion, Rossville, GA, grandchildren, Tyler Croft, Caleb Willingham, Darren Caylor, Andrew Caylor, 4 step-grandchildren, Christopher, Bre, Kayla, and Nathaniel Anderson, and number of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday November 28,2009 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mr. Thomas Shields (TSP) Pettyjohn

 Mr. Thomas Shields Pettyjohn, “TSP”, age 83 of Walker Street, Trion, GA passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Pettyjohn was born January 4, 1926 in Walker County GA.  He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.  Mr. Pettyjohn was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church, was a veteran of the United States Navy, Trion Lodge #160 F&AM, Trion Chapter #19 R.A.M., Rome Commandery #8, Yaarab Shrine, Atlanta, GA, Chattooga Shrine Club, Summerville Chapter #434 Order of the Eastern Star.Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Louise Greene Pettyjohn; Father and Mother, Henry M. and Sally Mae Brown Pettyjohn; brothers, Lee Pettyjohn, W. H. Pettyjohn and Roy Earl Pettyjohn; sisters, Lena Hopkins, Lily Wilson, Fannie Belle Ozment and Louise Johnson.Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and John Sterner of Summerville, GA; grandson, Mason David Sterner of Summerville, GA; and sister, Ruby Wilson of Ft. Mr. Willis James

MR. WILLIS SAMUEL JAMES, former Mayor of Summerville, Georgia and Chattooga County businessman, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 22, 2009, after a long illness. Born in Cobb County on October 17, 1913, Mr. James resided for most of his life in Chattooga County. His father, Cleland Columbus James moved to the area to establish the CCC Fish Hatchery in 1929. Willis James delivered fish all over the state of Georgia with his father. 

 Mr. James graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with an engineering degree. His professional career included work in insurance and serving as manager of the Summerville Manufacturing Company for many years. He later worked with Roman Chemical Company. Mr. James was a member and former Elder of Summerville Presbyterian Church, and was involved for many years with the Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, Cleland Columbus and Annie Lou James, his brothers Herman, Edward, and Albert, his first wife Lola Beatty James, and their daughter, Martha Addie James Haygood.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary James; three grandsons, Gregory, Robert, and Richard Haygood, their father Dr. Felton Haygood, and several great grandchildren along with an extended step family.

Memorial services will be held at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home on Wednesday (November 25th), with visitation at 2 P.M. and the service at 3 P.M, with Dr. Paul Bayerl  officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Robert “Buck” Rounsaville

Mr. Robert "Buck" Rounsaville, age 60, of Summerville, GA, died suddenly on Friday November 20, 2009. Mr. Rounsaville was born September 5, 1949, in Chattooga County Georgia, the son of the late Clifford and Louise McCutchins Rounsaville. He was a graduate of Chattooga High School, enthusiastic about playing basketball, loved playing the saxophone, he was employed at various businesses around the area, while in high school he worked for Modern and Trion Dry Cleaners. He later was employed at Barrick Manufacturingand General Electric Plant, before operating the family business of Melanie Inn Convenience Store (TheCafe). Mr. Rounsaville was preceded in death by a brother the late James Clifford Rounsaville. Survivors include his daughters, Mina Maria (Maurice) Martin, Armuchee, GA, Tiffany Michelle Rounsaville, Summerville, GA, son, Daricus Lorenzo Rounsaville, Summerville, GA, sisters, Grace M. Zayas, Brenda F. Mrs. Ruth McKenzie Obituary

Mrs. Ruth McKenzie, age 87 of Marsh Avenue, Trion, passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. McKenzie was born August 12, 1922 in Chattooga County, GA. She was retired from Riegel Textile Corporation and was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church.

Mrs. McKenzie was preceeded in death by her first husband, Gene Watson and her scoond husband, James Henry McKenzie; son, Richard Watson, father and mother, Homer and Jessie Williams Boyles; sister, Katie Ashe; brother, Reggie Boyles; and step-daughter, Rita Moore.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Charlie Miller of Cornelia, GA; son, Bradley E. Watson, Alabama; step-sons, Ronnie McKenzie of Atlanta, GA and Ritchie McKenzie of Athens, GA; number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several neices and nephews also survived.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 24, at 2:00pm from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Pledger officiating. Interment will be in the Westh Hill Cemetary. Mrs. McKenzie will lie in state Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Erwin Petittl Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00pm. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Mr. F. H. (Pete) Boney

MR. F. H. (PETE) BONEY, age 94, of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, died Thursday, (November 19, 2009), in Brunswick, Georgia. He was born December 13, 1914, in Fitzgerald, GA. a son of the late L.W. and Emma Swinney Boney. He graduated from the University of Miami where he played fullback for the Hurricanes. He began a teaching and coaching career in Trion, GA in 1936.

 

During WW II he served in the U.S. Navy and continued in the Reserves for 25 years, retiring as a Commander. After the war he graduated from Emory University Law School and in 1957 opened a law practice in Summerville, GA for some thirty years. During his career he was elected to one term as the Judge of City Court in Chattooga County. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Brewer Boney, and their son, Peter L. Boney.

He is survived by a daughter, Marcia Boney of St. Simons Island; grandchildren and husbands, Belle and Link Baker, Lilburn, GA; Leigh and Dr. Jeff Baumbach, Dothan, AL and Ann and George Williams , Knoxville, TN; great- grandchildren Virginia, Elizabeth, Will, and Mary Grant Baumbach; Emily, George, Cullen, Maggie, and Kate Williams and Brewer Baker.

Funeral services will be held Sunday (November 22nd) at 2:00 P.M. from the Summerville First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hicks officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.

Mrs. Helen Webster Bell

MRS. HELEN FRANCES WEBSTER BELL passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Fort Payne AL. She was born in Menlo, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lee Webster on March 25, 1917. Following graduation from Menlo High School, she attended Bob Jones University in Cleveland, TN where Rev. Billy Graham was one of her classmates. She later graduated from Georgia State College for women in Milledgeville, GA. She taught school at South Summerville Elementary School. 

 She married Robert Terry (Bob) Bell and moved to Gaylesville, AL. They owned a cattle farm for many years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her roses with friends and neighbors. Helen was a long time member of Oak Bowery United Methodist Church in Gaylesville where she was active in the United Methodist Women. In 1994, she moved to Fort Payne First United Methodist Church.

 She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Terry Bell; her sister Kathryn Webster; and her brother, Daniel Webster.  She is survived by her daughters, Ann Ledbetter and her husband Stanley of LaFayette, GA, Betty Chestnut and her husband Richard of Huntsville, AL; and Ellen Limbaugh and her husband Malley of Childersburg, AL. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Webster Shaw and her husband, Thomas of Jackson, GA. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lance Ledbetter and his wife April of Atlanta, GA; Julia Ledbetter Edge and her Children, Jonathan and Jacob of Chickamauga, GA; Patrick Chestnut and his wife, Mandy and their children, Caroline, Patrick, Anna Louise, and Ruth of Athens, AL; Lauren Lowe, and her husband Carl of Huntsville, AL; Ryan Limbaugh and his wife Jamie and their children, Carson, Cody, and Adam of Anniston, AL; Scott Limbaugh and his wife Kate of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Sloan Limbaugh of Nashville, TN; Several Nieces and Nephews and many friends also survive.  

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ryan Limbaugh, Patrick Chestnut, Lance Ledbetter, Scott Limbaugh, Sloan Limbaugh and Danny Chestnut.  Services will be held 3 P.M. CST Friday, Nov. 20th at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Limbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Randle Cemetery, Gaylesville, AL.

Mrs. Era Faye Logan

Mrs. Era Faye Logan, age 81, of Trion, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Floyd Medical Center. Mrs. Logan was born in Trion, Georgia on May 9, 1928, son of the late David Oscar Smith and Janie Marie Ledford Smith. She was of the Church of God Faith and prior to retirement, was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills. Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Logan on April 9, 2005, and by two sisters, Hazel Nixon and Nelda Clowdis. Mrs. Logan is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Janet Logan, Billy and Shirley Logan and Lamar Logan all of Trion; brother, Earl Smith of Summerville; sisters, Ann Bailey of Trion and Sue (Ronnie) Rogers; 2 grandchildren, Kerry (Brad) Jones of Summerville and Angie (Kevin) Crain of Trion; and one great-grandson, Braden Crain; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Logan will be held Monday, November 16, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Howell officiating. Danny Lee Sorrells

Mr. Danny Lee Sorrells, age 27, of Lyerly, GA died Monday, November 16, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sorrells was born March 9, 1982 in Atlanta, GA. He attended the Faith Temple Holiness Church. Mr. Sorrells is survived by his father, Dwight Sorrells; mother, Paulette Fennell Sorrells; caregivers, Jeff & Laura Dotson, Dwight and Zack Dotson; brothers, Michael Sorrells and Quinton Youther; several aunts, uncles, niece and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Phil Whitley officiating. Milburn Albert Teems

U.S. Veteran Mr. Milburn Albert Teems, age 85, of Lyerly, GA died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Teems was born July 19, 1924 in Chattooga County, GA the son of the late Robert "Bob" Teems and Mattie Brown Teems. He was a self-employed plumber and a member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. Mr. Teems was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hunnicutt Teems; and sisters, Lillie May Booker and Irene Booker.

Mr. Teems is survived by six daughters, Linda Lawson, Charlotte Flood, Wanda Styles, Dorothy Thompson, Jackie Sammons, and Debra McCary; 16 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren; and 10 Great Great Grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Thomas Flood, Jr, Wendell Flood, Jamey Hunnicutt, Johnny Hunnicutt, Chuck Thompson, and Chad Thompson.
