Ms. Sarah Oleta Ward

MS. SARAH OLETA WARD, age 96, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday morning in the local nursing home. A native of Dekalb County, Alabama She was born on July 25, 1913 to the late William Henry and Emily Ida Biddle Keith. Ms. Ward was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by sisters the late Margie Keith, the late Lovella Crook, and the late Beatrice Williams; brother-the late Oscar Keith; daughter-in-law- the late Jeannette Peek.

Surviving are daughter & son-in-law-Calla Mae & Norman Bryant of Summerville; son-Kenneth Peek of Henegar, AL.; granddaughters-Ami Heckler of Rainsville, Al., Kay Upton of Boaz, Al., & Tracy Tietgens of Lewisburg, TN.; grandsons-Dennis Bryant, Anthony Bryant, and Alan Bryant all of Summerville; great grandsons-Jeremy Bell, Kevin Akin, Landon Bryant, Calen Cooper, Ryan Tietgens, Eric Tietgens, & Brian Heckler; great granddaughters-Michelle Rowell, Kristen Watson, Stephanie Herring, Hunter Bryant, Hensley Bryant, Sarah Tietgens; great great granddaughters-Madison Jones, Ava Herring, Brody Bryant; great great grandson-Trenton Rowell; several Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Bryant and Rev. David Craven officiating, interment in Liberty Cemetery, Henegar, AL.. Active Pallbearers Grandsons and Great Grandsons; Honorary Pallbearers Dr. Bruce Lee, Billy Nalley, and Staff of Oak View Nursing Home, and special friend Carl McKenzie. Mr. Leroy Brown obit

MR. LEROY BROWN, age 86, of Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday (August 27, 2009) morning in a Ft. Oglethorpe hospital. Born in Walker County, Georgia on July 9, 1923, he was a son of the late Oscar Franklin and Mattie Ann Adams Brown. Mr. Brown was Baptist by faith and retired from the Weave Shop of Mt. Vernon/Riegel Mills. He was preceded by parents and fourteen sisters and brothers.

Surviving are sisters-in-law; Cleo Brown and Mattie Grace Brown, both of Summerville; first cousins, W.H. Adams, Jr., Clara Mae Dover, and Monnie Stoker; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (August 29th) at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Ivis Harris, Rev. Billy Wright and Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating.  Interment in Ridgeway Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Keith Smith, Chris Smith, Eugene Brown, Eddie Phillips, Jeff Brown, Greg Smith, Zack Brown and Kevin Smith; Honorary pallbearers are nieces, nephews, Gary McConnell, Dr. Gary Smith, W.J. Mr. Donald J. "Loy" Espy, age 87, of Menlo, GA died Thursday, August 27, 2009at his residence.  Mr. Espy was born April 24, 1922 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of the late Donald Espy and Myrtle Abernathy Espy. He was retired from Riegel Textiles. Mr. Espy was preceded in deathby his wife of 62 years, Thelma Espy; sisters, Mildred Baker and Edna Roper; brothers, Elbert Espy, Emmett Espy, Joe Espy, and Wallace "Watt" Espy. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Charlie Swords; sister, MargaretBaker; sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Tab Dempsey; grandchildren, Joseph Swordsand Justin Swords. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Mrs. Annie Lee Howard

Mrs. Annie Lee Howard, age 89, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Howard was born July 11, 1920 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Charley Williams and Martha Gass Williams.

 She was retired from Riegel Textile. Mrs. Howard was a member of the Church of Christ Pennville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Howard; and four brothers, James Williams, Melvin Williams, Gene Mac Williams, and Forest Williams. Mrs. Howard is survived by two sisters, Daphine Hammitt, Summerville, GA and Betty Duckett, Rossville, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Robbie Eversole officiating. Burial will follow in Garrett Cemetery.

Mr. Harvel Gene Moon

Mr. Harvel Gene Moon, age 65, of Trion, GA died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Floyd Medical
Center.
Mr. Moon was born October 13, 1943 in Centre, AL, the son of the late Emory Moon and Imogene
Barnes Moon. He was retired from Roper Corporation.
Mr. Moon is survived by his wife, Debbie Moon; children, Thomas Allen, Centre, AL, Tina
and Brandt Malphrus, Buford, SC, and Sonya and Terry Edward, Rome, GA; half brother, Tony
Moon, 11 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren; a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Lillie Mae “Jackie” Mills

Mrs. Lillie Mae “Jackie” Mills, age 87, of 1345 Redmond Road, Rome, formerly of the Glenwood Community passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at a local hospital.Mrs. Mills was born in Chattooga County Georgia on February 11, 1922, daughter of the late William Russell Lowry and Myrtle Adams Lowry.  She was married to Benny Edward Mills on May 18, 1940 and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2005.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mary Jo Treadaway and 2 brothers, Floyd Lowry and Herman Lowry.Mrs. Mills was a homemaker and was a member of the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, where she was a part of the P.V.N. Pilgrims and taught children’s Sunday school for a number of years.  She was also a longtime member of the Armuchee Home Demonstration Club.Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Janice Mills Smith and her husband, Randy of Rome; a son, Randall Edward Mills and his wife, Georgina, of Warner Robins; 6 grandchildren, Kevin Mills, Jason Mills, both of Warner Robins, Mrs. Erin Smith Bryan and her husband, Michael, Mrs. Emily Smith Matson and her husband Patrick, Miss Lauren Grace Smith and Jacob Smith all of Rome; 4 great-grandchildren, Logan Mills, Thomas Bryan, Lacy Bryan, and Isaac Bryan; 3 sisters, Mrs. Jeanne Henderson, Trion, Mrs. Betty Tucker, and Mrs. Nancy Lowry both of Summerville; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, 2009, at 4pm at the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mrs. Betty Jo Camp, age 78, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009, in Hutcheson Medical Center. Mrs. Camp was born May 11, 1931, in Chattooga County Georgia, the daughter of the late Paul and Ad Gilreath. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. Mrs. Camp was a member of Trion First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Preston Camp. Mrs. Camp was retired from Fisher’s, where she worked in the bakery for many years. Survivors include her son, Randall Preston "Randy" Camp, Summerville, GA. and several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
