Mr. Grady A. Bennett, age 67, of Ocala, Florida formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Tuesday (August 5, 2008) in Ocala, Florida.  He was born in Lithonia, Georgia on September 13, 1940 to the late Otis Richard and Eula Flippo Bennett.  He was a member of the Bellview Assembly of God in Bellview, FL. and owner/operator of Bennett Music Company in Ocala, FL for several years.

Surving are wife – Jimmie Ann Young Bennett; daughters – Melody Hall and Karen Jensen of Texas; sons – Mark Bennett of Chatsworth and John Paul Bennett of Arkansas; mother-in-law Ann Young of Summerville; sisters – Drucilla Ragland of Rome, Eula Belle Scoggins of Summerville; brother – James Robert (Bob) Bennett of Rome; sisters-in-law – Peggy Green of Cloudland, Pat Money Donna Whitmire both of Summerville, Peggy Bennett of Rome, Ann Bennett of Summerville; brothers-in-law – Donnie Scoggins & Randy Money of Summerville, Dewey Ragland of Rome, and Donald Green of Cloudland; Six Grandchildren, special niece Alania Carpetner & great-niece Emma Leann Carptenter, several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews survive.

Family graveside service will be held Saturday August 9th at 12 noon in West Hill Cemetery with Bro. Tom Russell and Bro. Mr. William Franklin Bradley, age 63 of Summerville passed away Tuesday, August 5th at his residence.  Mr. Bradley was born on February 26, 1945 in Walker County and was employed by Hays Correctional Institute and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Thomas and Luttie Bell Wooten Bradley, Brothers, James,Edward, and Hugh Bradley, Sister Dorothy Durham, Granddaughter, bree Phillips, grandson Brad Phillips and a grandaughter, Blake Money… He is surrvived by his wife Kathy Bradley of Summerville, son Chris Whisenant of Montgomery, AL., Daughters Melanie Searcy of Cartersville, and Julie Snider of Summerville a grandson Will Whisenant of Statham, granddaughters, Kinsey Money , Beth Dodd , Gail Dodd of Summerville, Grandson Matthew Snider of Dalton, Granddaughters Brooke  and Kariah Snider of Summerville. brothers Lebron Bradley of Flintstone, and LeRoy Bradley of Chickamauga, Sisters Pauline Hixon and Mamie Hartline of Trion and Brenda Kimbro Chattanooga, Tn , Several nieces and nephews also survived… Funeral Services will be ConductedThursday August 7 at 2 PM from the funeral chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Dennis was born July 11, 1925 in Dekalb County, AL, the daughter of the late George Franklin and Dorthey Bertha Sharpp Reese.  She was a homemaker and a member of the East Trion Church of God.  Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Mae Shankles. Survivors include her husband, Namon Lee Dennis; sons, Jimmy Lee Dennis and Jon R. Dennis, Summerville, GA; sisters, Rose Finch and Cora Combs, Rainsville, AL; brother, Bill Reese, Rainsville, AL;  grandchildren, Anthony Dennis, Angela Odom, Shelly Strange, Jessica Dennis Green, Zachary Dennis, and Alleigha Dennis; great grandchildren, Cole Dennis, Collier Dennis, Shelby Green, Nathaniel Odom, Christina Watkins, and Mason  Strange. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Hatfield Obit

Ms. Brenda L. Hatfield, age 62 of Ridgeway Drive in Trion passed away on Saturday afternoon at the residence.  She was born in Trion on march 22, 1946 to the late Albert Martin (Chunk) Sprayberry and Louise Cagle Sprayberry who survives.  Ms. Hatfield was a memebr of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

Surving are Mother, Louise Sprayberry of Trion; Daughter – Lisa Floyd of Trion; Son – Rusty Floyd of Henager, Alabama; Grandchildren – Colton Floyd, Dakota Williams, Jamie Griffin, and Summer Williams.  Special Friend David McNeese of Summerville, several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 PM from the JD Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Hall and Reve. Haygood Obituary

Mr. Terry Wayne Haygood, age 40, of Trion-Teloga Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday in a Rome hospital. He was born on April 6, 1968 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Myra Nell West Haygood and Herman M. Haygood, who survives. Formerly, Mr. Haygood was a lift-truck operator for Mohawk Carpet and was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Kathy Young Haygood, and aunts – the late Sheila McDaniel and the late Beverly Haygood.

Surviving are fiancee – Karen Anita Young; father – Herman M. Haygood, of Trion; sisters and spouses – Brenda & David Wells of  Irvington, KY, and Diane & LeBron Lancaster of LaFayette, GA; half-brother and spouse – Joey & Rita Wells of Cleveland, TN; 4 nieces, 2 nephews, several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Maddux and Rick Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Garden.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Glenda Faye Cooper, age 61, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Cooper was born January 1, 1947 in Chattooga County, GA. She was the daughter of the late Roland and Wilma Allison Taylor. Mrs. Cooper was formerly employed at Roger Corporation.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Ray Stephens, Summerville, GA, and Danny Michael Stephens, Alabama; brothers, Bobby Allison, Summerville, GA, and Gerald Gibson, Mason, TX; cousin and care giver, Roy Meeler; and 2 Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Harper, Bruce harper, Karl Marbutt, J. B. Barbee, and Ricky Howell.

Tapp Obit

Mrs. Bertha Baldwin Tapp, age 90 of Maplewood Drive, Summerville passed away Tuesday in a Rome hospital.  A native of Albertville, Alabama she was born to the late Will and Pearl Howell Baldwin on August 22, 1917.  mrs. Tapp was a member of Prospect #2 Baptist Church and was retired from the spinning department of the former Summerville Cotton Mill, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Charlie William Tapp; daughter the late Betty Slaytong and son the late Horace Tapp.

Surving are daughter- Sara Wester of Summerville; sons- Charles Tapp of Calhoun and Johnny Tapp of Summerville; 15 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, 26 Great Great Grandchildren and several neices and nephews.

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Bentley, age 80, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Cherokee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Centre, AL.

Mrs. Bentley was born April 27, 1928 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Andrew and Annie Mitchell McGraw. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Mrs. Bentley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bentley.

Survivors include her son, Tony Saylor, Summerville, GA; brothers, Tommy McGraw, Lyerly, GA, and A. J. McGraw, Prattville, AL; sisters, Rosa Trammell and Jean Crabtree, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Cody Saylor, Trey Saylor, and Jason Saylor; and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A. J. McGraw officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Mr. J. W. “Jake” Martin, age 79, of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Martin was born in Etowah County, AL, on June 19, 1929, son of the late James Walter Martin and Lettie Mae Churchwell Martin. He was a member of the Perennial Springs Baptist Church, attended Berryton Baptist Church and prior to retirement was employed with Bigelow Sanford and Mohawk. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mae Ball Martin, brother, Curtis Martin, and a sister, Net Deering.
