Peggy Wallin Dover

Mrs. Peggy Wallin Dover, age 66 of McCollum Street, Trion, passed away Thursday, May 01, 2008 at her residence. She was born May 8, 1941 in Walker County, Georgia. She was retired from the Roper Corporation and was a Baptist by faith. Mrs. Dover was preceded in death by her parents, T.J. and Ann Shephard Wallin; twin sister and brother, Mary and Jerry Wallin.

In Peggy and Jimmy’s years together they have traveled to 49 states, several Canadian Provinces, Nova Scotia, Mexico, Germany, Italy, and the Bahamas. Peggy and her husband would have been married for 50 years on May 10, 2008 where a big celebration had already been demanded by Peggy.

Mrs. Dover is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jimmy Dover of Trion; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Waydell Howell of Trion; Patti and Steve Henderson, and Tammy and Dale Bates of Summerville; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua Howell, Adam and Kimberley Howell, Brandon and Breezy Henderson, Cassie and Tim Rutledge, Brett and Lacey Jackson, and Brittney Bates; 7 great-grandchildren, Stormy, Rainie, and Misti Henderson, Sterling and Keyra Rutledge, Kamen Lewis, and Brody Howell; aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery.

Mrs. Dover will lie in state Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM. Pallbearers will be Joshua Howell, Adam Howell, Tim Rutledge, Brett Jackson, Danny Wallin, Randy Wallin, and Tony Wallin. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Pamper Me Salon and employees of Edward Jones & Co.

Celia Ann Autry

Mrs. Celia Ann Autry, age 57, or Cloudland, Georgia died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Erlanger Medical Center. Mrs. Autry was born August 5, 1951 in Walker County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Earl J. and Minnie Irene Edwards Shipman. She was the former owner and operator of the Family Grocery. Mrs. Autry was preceded in death by her husband, Connie Mack Autry. Survivors include her daughters, Starla Schrader and Connie Autry, both of Cloudland; Lisa Autry Hutchins, Summerville; brother, Mack Shipman, Cloudland; sisters Joan Hawkins, Cloudland; Teresa Burton, Atlanta; and 6 grandchildren. Mrs. Ruth Jewell Housch, age 94 of Summerville, (Pennville Community), passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Housch was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on February 9, 1914, daughter of the late Charles Lumpis Whitley and Meredith Virginia Atkins Whitley.  She was a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church for over 50 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Housch, son, Charles Housch and a daughter, Jeanette Housch.  Mrs. Housch is survived by two grandsons, John Housch and Robert Housch; a granddaughter, Julie Bond and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Housch will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Wilburn Jarrett Obit

Mr. Wilburn Jarrett, age 63 of Summerville, passed away Sunday afternoon in a Chattanooga, TN hospital from injuries received in an auto accident on April 6th.  A native of Hall County, Georgia He was born to the late George and Ruth Buffington Jarrett on December 28, 1944.  Mar. Jarrett was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Summerville, a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired farmer.  Preceding him in death a sister the late Sarolyn Jarrett and a brother Donald Jarrett. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Jason and Melissa Jarrett; granddaughter Bailey Kellett all of Summerville; sister Jimmie Murray of Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law De Jaun and Joan Jarrett and Mike and Kathy Jarrett all of Summerville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mr. Alfred Ernest Crowe, age 73, of Summerville, GA died Friday, April 25, 2008 at   his residence.   Mr. Crowe was born February 25, 1935 in Walker County, Georgia, the son of the late   D. W. and Nora Peace Crowe.  He was retired from truck driving.  Mr. Crowe was   preceded in death by a son, Tony Crowe; a sister, Beatrice Stringer; and brothers,   Robert Crowe, James Crowe, Carl Crowe, and Henry Crowe.   Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Lisa Hamilton, Cedar Bluff, AL; and a grandson,   Anthony Justin Crowe, Jamestown, AL.   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 26, 2008. from the Mason   Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Killian Obit

Mrs. Lillian Kathleen Killian, age 84 of Summerville, passed away Friday morning in a LaFayette Health Care facility.  She was a native of Chattanooga, TN born to the late Roy and Lula Shackleford Farmer on November 9, 1923. 

She was a homemaker and attended the Berryton Church of God.

She is survived by her daughter Bobbie Stansell of Trion; grandchildren: Angelia Bohannon and Daniel Stansell of Trion; great grandchildren: Shawn Christopher and Brendon Bohannon.  Also a sister, Billie Tumlin of Rainsville, AL survives her along with several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Henry Franklin Ward, age 81 of Broomtown, passed away Wednesday April 23, 2008 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. (AL Time) Saturday at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel in Cherokee County, AL.  with Revs. Charles Bishop and Allen Copeland officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. (AL Time) Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the family will accept flowers.

Survivors include his wife, Caroly Hartline Ward, son David Ward and his wife Diane of Lyerly, daughters Linda McCullough and her husband Bill of Broomtown, Gail Ward of Gaylesville.  Also, his brothers Charles Ward and his wife Faye of Austell, GA, Bill Ward and his wife Annie of Norcross, GA.  Also his sister, Virginia Tallent of Rome.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jeff Ward, Steven McCullough, Tommy Ward and Shane Daniels, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ward was a native of Menlo, son of the late Millard Harrison and Minnie Annis Doherty Ward.  He was a veteran of WWII, a retired farmer and member of the Cherokee Electric Board of Directors.

Pallbearers will be: Kermit Hill, James Noland, Dale Dodd, Dow Van Pelt, Steve Bullard, Lee Anthony and Jason White.

Ray Herbert Greene

Mr. Ray Herbert Greene, age 73 of Hair Lake Road in Summerville, passed away on Wednesday, April 23rd.

 

He was born February 10, 1935 in Chattooga County.  The son of the late Jame Claude and Celia Kesler Greene.

 

He was a member of the South Summerville Baptist Church and The Friendship Sunday School Class. 

 

Mr. Greene was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He was retired from Mohawk Industries and was also the custodian at South Summerville Baptist Church.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ray Herbert Greene Jr.

 

Survivors include his wife, Linda Suit Greene of Summerville, daughter and son-in-law Celia& Craig Holt of Summerville, granddaughter and fiancé Bethany Holt and Brooklyn Stiefel of Rosedale Georgia, grandson Jared Holt of Summerville, niece and nephews Rhonda, John and Mason Sterner of Summerville, and Louise &Thomas Pettyjohn of Trion, sister and brother-in-law.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11 AM from the South Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. David Craven, Rev. Jimmy Bryant, and Rev. Kenneth Summey officiating.

Pallbearers will be:  Phil McGuire, Wayne Pettyjohn, Mike King, Ray Lee, and Alan Smith.  Pallbearers are requested to meet at the Erwin-Petit Funeral Home on Friday at 10 AM.

 

Mr. Greene will lie in state at the funeral home Thursday evening where the family will receive friends from 6 – 8:30 PM.
