A thirty-two-year-old Cedartown woman was arrested on Christmas Day in Chattooga County after she left her child in the car, in 30 degree weather, for an hour while she played games inside a convenience store.

According to a report from the sheriff’s office, the woman told a responding deputy she “thought it would be okay” to leave her child in the vehicle outside the Highway 48 Food Mart while she played coin machines inside the store with a friend.   A store employee told the deputy that the child had been in the car for an hour and the woman had only checked on the child one time.  The age of the child was not disclosed in the report.

The woman then gave a false name to deputies, saying her name was “Devin Ridge”.  When she was being booked into the Chattooga County Jail, the woman was determined to be Mishaela Dawn Rayls.  Rayls was charged with giving a false name to law enforcement, reckless conduct and a failure to appear charge.
