An Officer with the Centre Police Department very luckily escaped injury on Tuesday evening after his gun accidentally discharged at the Police Firing Range in Cedar Bluff.

According to Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie – Investigator Randy Mayorga who is the City’s Certified Firearms Instructor suffered minor cuts to his leg after his pistol unexpectedly discharged as he was holstering the gun.

The bullet struck the concrete pad he was standing on causing pieces of concrete to hit Mayorga in the leg.

Cherokee EMS Paramedics examined Mayorga and afterwards he immediately returned to work.
