The Georgia Department of Revenue announced that at the start of the year there will be changes in motor vehicle registration and title requirements from purchases from sources other than a Georgia registered dealer.

Both Registration and Title for a newly purchased motor vehicle from a source other than a registered dealer must be applied for at the owner’s County Tag Office no later than seven business days after the Date of Purchase.

The new seven-day requirement is contained in Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 40-2-29) and replaces the former thirty (30) day requirement for making an application for title and registration.
