Beginning in June of this year, the Chattooga County Animal Shelter is now opening one Saturday per month for pet adoptions.

The shelter is located on Red Oak Drive, off Highway 100, in Summerville.  Regular hours of operation are Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s from 10 AM until 5 PM.  The shelter is closed on Wednesday.  The shelter is open on the first Saturday of each month from 10am to 2pm for adoptions only.

The shelter is overseen by Brandy Prince, the Chattooga County Animal Control Director.  The shelter houses abandoned, homeless and lost animals.  Animal Control Officers Brandy Prince and Davy Hairston assist the director with making sure that animals in the county are not being neglected or mistreated.

Chattooga County Animal Control has many dogs and cats that are available for adoption. Time is of the essence when it comes to adopting these animals because county ordinance only allows the center to hold the animals for five days.
