At Monday night’s meeting of the Chattooga County Board of Education, the school board and superintendent discussed and approved the Night School Program that is affiliated with Northwestern Technical College. Dr. Dwight Pullen told the school board members that the welding program being conducted by Northwestern was “one of the finest programs I’ve seen.” Currently there are 14 students enrolled in the program, and according to the superintendent a good many of the students are Chattooga County residents. The superintendent said that Northwestern Tech was providing all of the instruction equipment, including two new welders that will remain at Chattooga High School when the program is completed. Pullen stated that the program was providing valuable job training for area residents and that he felt the program was a “win-win situation.” The board of education approved the program at Monday night’s meeting.
