The Chattooga Board of Education held a called meeting on Tuesday evening of this week and approved the resignation of Dr. Julia Houston. 

Houston, who represented the Lyerly District on the board, resigned last Thursday in a letter to the board and School Supt. Jared Hosmer.  Houston had been a vocal critic of the system’s decision to move forward with plans to build an new Menlo School.

Board Chairman Eddy Elsberry told WZQZ News on Wednesday that the board would discuss the process on how to fill Houston’s seat in the June 17th regular school board meeting.

In other business, the board voted a manager at risk delivery method for the Menlo School project.  Chairman Elsberry tells WZQZ News that the method will help minimize cost overruns and ensure the most economical bid deliveries for the new school project.
