On Thursday of this past week, the Chattooga Board of Education approved the hiring of Scott Chandler to the be the new defensive assistant football coach.
Chandler is coming off a successful season as head football coach at Tyner Academy, where he took the Tyner Rams all the way to the state championship in Tennessee Division 2A. Tyner Academy is a magnet school in Chattanooga.
Chandler took over the head coaching position at Tyner in May of 2021 and led Tyner to a 7-4 finish, then followed with last season’s unexpected 14-1 campaign that featured a dominating defense that recorded seven shutouts as the Rams outscored opponents by an average of 39-5.6 in their wins.
Chandler told the Chattanooga Times-Free Press that the move to Chattooga will keep his closer to home and allow him more time with his family.
