Chattooga High School will have a new principal for the 2023-2024 school year.  On Monday morning of this week, the Chattooga County Board of Education voted to offer a contract to Roger Wilkinson, the current principal of Franklin County High School in Carnesville, Georgia.

Wilkinson is a Gadsden, Alabama native who graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1989 and attended Jacksonville State University.  He received his post-graduate degrees in social science and school administration from the University of Alabama.  Wilkinson served as high school football and baseball coach at Emma Sansom High School from 1994-1997.  He has also served as an assistant principal at Gaston High School and Etowah High School in Alabama and as principal at Ragland High School and R.A. Mitchell Elementary School.

Eddie Elsberry, Chairman of the Chattooga Board of Education told WZQZ News, “We are excited to welcome Mr. Wilkinson to Chattooga High School and our community. He is currently principal at Franklin County High School in Carnesville Georgia. Mr. Wilkinson has 29 years of experience in education with the last 24 of those being in an assistant principal or principal role. Mr. Wilkinson and his family are excited to become a part of our community and residents of Chattooga County”.
The Chattooga Board of Education also approved Kelli Johnson as the new Education Director to replace Jeremy Heathcock who is moving to a new position at the central office.
