According to a new study, Forsyth County is the healthiest county in Georgia. The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute has released its latest edition of the “County Health Rankings & Roadmaps.” It ranked all of Georgia’s 159 counties from healthiest to least healthy, with Hancock County coming in last.  Chattooga County was in the bottom third of counties in the health ranking.

“The CHR&R program provides data, evidence, guidance and examples to build awareness of the multiple factors that influence health and support leaders in growing community power to improve health equity,” according to the institute’s website. “The Rankings are unique in their ability to measure the health of nearly every county in all 50 states, and are complemented by guidance, tools, and resources designed to accelerate community learning and action.”

The top five counties include Forsyth, Oconee, Cherokee, Cobb, and Fayette. The five least healthy counties include Randolph, Ben Hill, Miller, Early, and Hancock.

Chattooga County came in at 129 out of 159.  Dade, Walker, Gordon and Floyd Counties all came in within the top 75 healthiest, according to the study.
