The Chattooga County Board of Education met on last Thursday evening at the Chattooga Education Center located at the old Pennville School building.  Two new members are on the Board of Education, both having been involved in education – Alma Lewis and Ron Williams.

The board voted to keep Thursday as the regular meeting night.  The two new board members, Lewis and Williams voted against keeping the meeting on Thursdays with Board Chairman Eddie Massey, Terry Money and Eddie Elsberry voting in favor.

The board accepted the resignation of Leroy Massey Elementary teacher David Daniel, who was arrested on Monday of last week on charges of criminal attempt to commit child molestation and computer pornography.  Daniels was subsequently arrested on Friday and charged with four counts of theft by taking for funds missing from a PTA account at United Community Bank.

In other personnel matters, the board voted to accept the resignation of Menlo Elementary School teacher Laura Welch.
