A group of Chattooga County property owners that are upset with County Commissioner Blake Elsberry’s land use ordinance that was implemented earlier this year are planning a meeting next week.

The last meeting the group held saw a large crowd of over 140 people at the Chattooga County Civic Center.

Commissioner Elsberry, who was invited to the citizen’s group meeting but chose not to attend, says that he is addressing some of the concerns the group has about the ordinance.  The commissioner says he has sent amendments to the ordinance that address some of the groups questions to the county attorney.

But organizers of the citizens group say that those amendments were not discussed publicly and question the process the commissioner has used to draft changes to the ordinance.  Commissioner Elsberry says anyone with any concerns about the ordinance are welcome to attend the next meeting of the Land Use Committee which is coming up October 13th.

The citizens group will be meeting next Tuesday, October 4th at 7 PM at the Chattooga County Civic Center and invite all Chattooga County property owners to attend.
