The excitement for the annual Chattooga County Agricultural Fair is officially building as the fair’s esteemed Blue Ribbon Department begins accepting entries today for a wide array of competitive contests. Residents from Chattooga County and a broad surrounding area are invited to showcase their talents in agriculture, horticulture, art, photography, needlework, and food preservation.

The Blue Ribbon competition is open to participants from Chattooga, Floyd, Walker, and Gordon Counties in Georgia, as well as Cherokee and DeKalb Counties in Alabama. Entries will be accepted at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center, located on Middle School Drive in Summerville.

To accommodate the diverse range of categories, the receiving schedule for entries is staggered:

• August 18-20: Entries will be accepted for Art, Photography, Needlework, and Food Preservation.
• August 20-21: Submissions for Horticulture, Agriculture, and Honey will be received.

Judging for the Horticulture and Agriculture categories is set to commence on August 21 at 10:30 a.m.

The competition offers various divisions designed to provide a fair playing field for all participants, including Youth, Open, Professional, and Golden Age categories.
