Think your photography, homemade preserves, garden produce or handiwork deserves a blue ribbon? The Chattooga County Fair is inviting local residents to put their talents to the test as entries open for the fair’s Blue Ribbon Department.

The competition includes a variety of categories, including arts, photography, needlework, food preservation, honey, horticulture and agriculture.

Organizers have announced the following receiving schedule for entries:

Monday, August 24 — 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, August 25 — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Arts, Photography, Needlework, Food Preservation and Honey

Wednesday, August 26 — 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Horticulture and Agriculture

Thursday, August 27 — 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Horticulture — same-day blooms only

The Blue Ribbon Department will close to the public while judging is underway.

Whether it is a prized quilt, a favorite photograph, a jar of homemade preserves, locally produced honey, tomatoes from the garden or another special creation, fair organizers are encouraging residents to bring their best work and see how it measures up.

Entries and exhibits must be picked up Monday, August 31, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Blue Ribbon competitions are a longtime part of the county fair tradition, giving local residents an opportunity to showcase their talents, creativity, craftsmanship and agricultural accomplishments.
