The latest numbers from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta show that over 50% of the American population has been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, but there are several areas of the nation that are far behind that number.

The number show that around 39% of Georgia residents have been fully vaccinated.   Governor Kemp, along with other state officials have been actively trying to get more people to get the vaccine, which is available free of charge.  This week, Georgia Agricultural Commissioner Gary Black has spent time traveling the state and talking with farmers and other ag-related workers to urge them to get vaccinated.

In Chattooga County, the numbers are less than the state average.  According to the latest numbers on Friday, there have been 14,004 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered.  People who have received at least one dose of the vaccine number at 7,786 in Chattooga County and only 7,120, or about 29% of the total population, have been fully vaccinated.

The free vaccines are available at most Chattooga County pharmacies.
