A 61-year-old Chattooga County man was arrested after an incident involving a firearm during a dispute at a residence on McConnell Road. Deputies were called late on November 18th after a woman reported that her landlord, Milton Byron Nuckolls, was in her yard yelling for her to leave the property. She told authorities that he was waving a firearm and threatened to point it at her if she didn’t leave.
When deputies arrived, they reported hearing shouting from behind the residence. As they approached, Nuckolls stepped out with his hands in his pockets. Deputies ordered him to show his hands due to concerns he might be armed. He was detained without further incident after not complying with commands and displaying agitated behavior.
Witnesses told deputies that Nuckolls had been waving the firearm earlier, though he denied pointing it at anyone. After detaining him, deputies searched the area and his vehicle but did not locate a weapon. Nuckolls was read his rights and taken into custody on a charge of disorderly conduct.
He was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without incident as deputies gathered witness statements and completed their investigation.
