A 70-year-old man was arrested in Chattooga County after deputies responded to a reported suspicious person and vehicle call on Highway 114 and later charged him with criminal trespass and false report of a crime, according to an incident arrest report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
The report states the call came in the morning of Friday, Dec. 5, with dispatch sending deputies to a residence in the 8043 Highway 114 area. Authorities say the man, identified as Larry Joe Itson, was alleged to be unlawfully on the property and later claimed his wife and children were being held hostage at the location, prompting a 911 call.
According to the report, the homeowner told deputies the man had been at the residence earlier in the week and referenced concerns about his condition. The report says the man was taken into custody at the scene, advised of his rights, and later transported to jail without further incident.
