Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods has announced his bid for reelection.  Woods was elected in 2020 after former longtime Probate Judge Jon Payne had announced that he was retiring.  Judge Payne subsequently passed away before the end of his term and Becky Duke was named to fill his term of office.

Payne, a Democrat, was one of the longest-serving probate judges in Georgia history and had held the office since the mid 1970’s.

Woods, a Republican, announced this past week that he would be running for reelection.  Judge Woods said, “I am excited to announce I will be seeking reelection as Probate Judge for Chattooga County.  My time in office has allowed me to meet many of you, and I look forward to meeting those I haven’t during the re-election campaign.  It is an honor and privilege to serve as Chattooga County Probate Judge.  I will work hard to gain your support as I seek re-election to continue serving”.
