The Chattooga County Board of Assessors is notifying property owners that annual notice of assessments will be mailed out next week on June 9, 2022.  Property owners will start seeing the assessments in their mailboxes beginning Saturday, June 11, 2022.

The assessor’s office is urging property owners to review their assessment notice when it comes in the mail.

Property owners desiring to appeal the assessment may do so in writing within 45 days of the notice.  Appeals can be filed based on the following criteria:

• Value
• Uniformity
• Taxability
• Exemption denied
• Breach of covenant
• Denial of covenant

Appeal forms are available on the tax assessor’s website HERE.  They are also available at the tax assessor’s office in Summerville.  When you file an appeal, you should include your name, address, phone number and grounds for appeal, asserted value and if you are an agent – authorization must be provided.
