Chattooga County residents are reaching out to help victims of the tornado that swept through Kentucky and left a wide path of devastation.

Jason and Glori Boyd are conducting a fundraiser to help a Kentucky pastor whose home was wiped out in the tornado.  According to Glori Boyd, “We have been informed of a young Pastor in Bremen, KY who lost all his belongings in the tornado last weekend. The house belonged to the church and was covered by the church’s insurance. Unfortunately, his family’s contents were not covered. If you’d like to give, no amount is too big or too small. Jason and I will be honored to hand deliver your donations to this family and show them the love of Christ from their neighbors in Georgia.”  There is a Facebook Fundraiser you can find here.

Also, Chattooga Young Farmers have sent supplies to the storm victims.  According to Young Farmer Coordinator Lauren Jarrett, the local Young Farmer Chapter voted to support relief efforts in Kentucky and they have also had donations for some individuals and community members.  Yesterday evening, Jarrett met with former Chattooga County Extension Agent Brent Allen who was traveling to see his family in Kentucky for Christmas with baby items, non perishable food items and gloves, rakes and tarps.

Lauren Jarrett says that the Chattooga Young Farmers will be organizing another collection that the Chattooga County community can participate in sometime after the first of the year.
