Numbers released for the month of October by the Georgia Department of Labor show that Chattooga County’s unemployment rate has dropped to historic lows. 

The numbers across the state of Georgia are the lowest ever recorded according to Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler, and here in Chattooga County the numbers have fallen below 3% for the first time ever.

The October unemployment rate for Chattooga County was 2.9%, down from 3.2% in September.

In the Northwest Georgia region, the October unemployment rate was down 1/10th to 2.1 percent, and the labor force grew by over 1,200 workers over the month.
