Vietnam War veterans in the Chattooga County area are being called to participate in a significant and final honor ceremony to be held on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025. This event marks the conclusion of a decade-long initiative by the federal Vietnam War Commission to recognize all who served between November 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, regardless of their duty station.

For the past ten years, the Vietnam War Commission, in collaboration with state and local partners, has strived to ensure that every veteran who served during this pivotal period receives formal acknowledgement for their service. This upcoming ceremony in Chattooga County will be the last opportunity for eligible veterans in the region to receive the official Honor Certificate from the State of Georgia and the commemorative pin from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Veterans who have not yet received these honors are strongly encouraged to come forward. To facilitate the process and allow ample time for certificate printing, interested veterans are asked to contact Kim Snow at the Chattooga County Extension office at 706-857-0744.
