According to the latest figures released by the Georgia Department of Labor Chattooga and every surrounding county, saw an improvement in the unemployment rate from October to November.

Chattooga County's rate dropped from 5.9 to 5.2%; Walker County went from 5.7 to 5.2%;

Catoosa improved from a flat 5.0% to 4.6%; Dade dropped from 5.2 to 4.7%; and Whitfield, the area hardest hit by the slow economy, also improved, dropping from 6.1 to 5.7%.
