While our neighbors in Walker County have heard from the county school board and the county commissioner concerning 2021 property taxes, Chattooga County’s taxing authorities have not announced any plans for what they will do with the millage rate.

The Walker County School board announced over a week ago that they would be keeping the millage rate the same as 2020 and this week the Walker County Commission announced that they would roll back the millage rate slightly, but the Walker County Government will still see an increase in revenue because of an increase in assessments.

Chattooga County authorities are expected to make decisions regarding the 2021 property taxes soon.  The Board of Education and Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry will set the millage rate for taxes that are due in December.
