Rain and freezing rain is being reported across Chattooga County at the noon hour.

For the most part the precipitation falling in the county is rain as temperatures are hovering above the freezing mark.  At 11:45 AM in Summerville it was 35 degrees other temperatures around the county:

Trion – 36

Lyerly – 36

Subligna – 37

Cloudland – 34

Some freezing rain is mixing with rain in some of the higher elevations of the county and you may see ice forming on trees and elevated surfaces as the temperature remains just above freezing.

Later this evening we could see temperatures fall back down below freezing causing problems with ice.  The National Weather Service says black ice will be an issue in many areas tomorrow morning.

In middle Tennessee the ice is causing a real problem.  I-24 between Monteagle and Nashville has been closed since about 11 this morning due to ice and there is still ice falling.

Stay tuned and pay attention to the weather throughout the day today and into this evening.
