AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio spoke with Commissioner Jason Winters on Thursday about economic development in Chattooga County.  At Tuesday evening’s Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce meeting State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond announced a $25,000 grant that would be available to the chamber to help promote Chattooga County’s industrial sights and hopefully attract new business. Commissioner Winters said that Chattooga County’s “Tier 1 Status” is actually helping the county with the possibility of stimulus money from the federal government.  President Obama’s economic stimulus package contains provisions for money that could help Chattooga County with projects that are “shovel ready.”
Congressman Phil Gingrey has told Commissioner Winters that stimulus money may be available too Chattooga County based on the county’s “Tier 1 Status”.
AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will have a “Newsmakers Interview” program with Commissioner Winters coming up this afternoon at 12:45 following the trading post.  The program will re-air at 5:30 PM and then again on Saturday at 10:15 AM.
