At good team of people volunteered to go door-to-door for State Representative Barbara Massey Reece at Monday's monthly meeting of the local Democratic Party. Reece will go up against Republican Eddie Lumsden, of Floyd County, in the November Election.

All three Democratic candidates who are opposed in the election attended the meeting: State Representative Reece, Commissioner Jason Winters and Democratic Sheriff Candidate Mark Schrader

At the meeting local Democrats decided to have a voter registration event the end of this month or the beginning of October. The party also decided to have a Victory Party for winning candidates on election night. The public is invited. The next meeting is set for 6 p.m. Oct 9 at the Democratic Party Headquarters.

According to Chairman Jimmy Holbrook, the party is always looking for volunteers to help local candidates and to staff the local headquarters. The headquarters is located next to Local Loans on Commerce Street in Summerville, two doors up from the Commissioner's Office.
